What a great experience, it started with helpful e mails from them.
Arrived there and managed to park right outside. Went in and from the start the waiter was so helpful and genuinely interested in me as a customer.
First thing was a freebie of bread with Balsamic vinegar and oil waiter was pleased to say he had put more balsamic than usual in it, great decision.
Ordered a seafood platter, which was quite exceptional, there were some superb touches, like mussel shell plate, finger bowl and spoon for broth. Each element of the platter wasbeautifully cooked, the whitebait had just the right amount of coating, the gougons were well cooked and the prawns delicious. The portion was so big I didn't complete it as I wanted room for dessert.
I ordered a mix of raspberry and champagne sorbet both of which were very good, not the best I have ever had but certainally "up there"
Afterwards I had a very new CEO double espresso with a shortcake biscuit all for £25.50 an really great price for the food. The menu us quite varied and there are some great reduced proce options when I visited too.
Toilets were beautifully clean too!
Everything about this restaurant is delightful and well worth the 100 mile round trip!
Must admit it was a very quiet evening but it's a great place to go. On a busy night I suspect booking would be vital.
This a quality dining experience. Fabulous meet and greet at the door coupled with a lovely waitress who couldn't stop smiling.
The food was fabulous - I recommend the seafood platter. Dessert was equally edible.
Tiny flaw, the lady cleaning the table next to us was spraying something unpleasant as we ate. I'm splitting hairs now as this is such a great place to go and it won't stop us coming back, but perhaps spray the cleaning agent into the cloth rather than 'waft' it towards those eating?
Never been before and heard good things, didn’t leave disappointed. Enjoyed a warm welcome and dined in a great atmosphere, love the decor and feel of the place. Food was absolutely delicious and generous servings. Service was great and we will return!
Dined here last night. Relaxed dining experience. Tables nice and large with a decent amount of space between them. Delicious food and extremely well priced. Attentive but unobtrusive staff. Will definitely return.
Absolutely brilliant meal at the Green room. There were 13 of us and food was delicious and all came out hot. Julie and her team worked hard to make our lunch just perfect. Thank you so much .
Best place for Sunday lunch. I had roast beef and such good quality and plentiful plate. Service is friendly and welcoming and nice ambiance.
Just had the roast dinner with my wife and a friend, I would rate it as one of the best roasts I've eaten out. I had the chicken, it was tender and tasty and they had the beef and that was the same. The gravy was rich and the potatoes were crispy. Absolutely delicious well done chef.
Excellent restaurant. Delicious food, friendly staff, great ambience, reasonable prices. I highly recommend it. I'll be back for sure.
With family down we thought we would try somewhere we hadn't been before and the Green Room had been recommended to us - we went on a sunday afternoon.
The place is tidy / clean and staff were nice and friendly. We got seated and got drinks, some got starters and others just got mains. A few of the options on the menu are on slightly more expensive side, particularly on starters but generally not too badly priced. Was a bit worried about paying 6 quid for kids meals as I hate paying for them to only then have 2 or 3 bites, but it turned out they were free with a paying adult meal!
Food was very nice, some of us had roast dinners with choice of either beef or chicken. I think we all enjoyed it!
Not quite the full 5 stars as we had a rather excessive wait between starters and mains, to the extent that kids (1 and 3) had finished their meals which came out with starters before mains turned up - they really are not fast eaters!! Not end of the world stuff... but was our experience.
Can't comment on desert as everyone was too full to try anything!!
Worth a vist if you are looking for a nice place that is not a chain restaurant etc.
We popped into the Green Room on the off-chance for a Sunday lunch today. We've not been here for a while.
We were very impressed by the excellent service, which was friendly and professional. We were made to feel really welcome. This was all the more obvious as we'd just tried to eat at another eatery in town but left due to virtually being ignored, the smallest things like getting a menu seeming so very hard.
Also the food was amazing, we really enjoyed it all. Best meal out in a long time. Thank you.
We had a nice little private area just as you come in close to the bar. Our waitress was very friendly and the food was excellent. Good wine list so will be a nice place for winter drinks.
LOVED this place! High quality and broad menu while also having traditional British food. Went here for a date, we started with a cheese plate, split their two different pot pies, and ended with their toffee pudding. Absolutely delicious and so reasonably priced! Can’t wait to go back.
