Absolutely amazing!
The food was top quality and amazing value for money. We would expect to be paying double the price for the standard of food served.
The portion size was again, fantastic value for money.
There is a brilliant selection of beers, ales and spirits, with a lovely warm and welcoming fireplace and atmosphere.
The service is very friendly too, which makes the entire experience one to be remembered.
Amazing pub with a warm welcome from everyone. Lovely cosy log fires and dining room to be proud of!! Food was perfect, beautiful presentation and very tasty!! Thank you to everyone at The Wild Goose for a lovely evening
This pub is a little gem hidden off the beaten track in a village near Teignmouth. It’s full of history, built originally in the 1600s, wonky walls, oak beams and roaring log fires add to the charm. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and we were served quickly. We went straight into the mains with rump steak for my husband and fish and chips for me, followed by St Clements posset with shortbread - absolutely delicious. Good range of beers and very nice wines too. We will be back soon.
Our second visit was last week. We sat outside in the delightful patio and garden area overlooking the village church and surrounded by flowers, it was a treat. Our food was excellent - bang bang cauliflower was followed by hake and cod mornay and salmon and prawn linguine which were absolutely delicious. The St Clements posset, with the shortest shortbread ever, topped off our meal very nicely. We left feeling very full and happy. Can’t recommend this place highly enough, we will be back again.
Today's lesson was not to order extra roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and gravy until you've seen the initial portions!
Lovely dog friendly old village pub, with parking a few mins walk up the hill. The food was good, especially the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, although we were defeated by the volume of food we ordered, as the portions are generous.
Staff were very accommodating as we wanted to be as far away from other dogs as possible as our guy is a bit mouthy at times. I also liked that rather than a separate kids menu they do kids portions of everything on the menu.
Worth a visit if you're in the area.
Not yet tried food, fully booked so get in quickly. Called in as doors were closing but landlord still took time to make us welcome & serve us drinks. BEAUTIFUL unspoilt views from beer garden at rear. A gem in an historic building
Really liked this place! Arrived early for lunch and had a couple of drinks in the beer garden. Just so quiet and tranquil with a stream at the bottom. Perfect spot. Went inside for food, slightly old world feel but was actually so relaxed, table by the window with those views.
Was Sunday so roast in order, with beef, pork and chicken. Meat was very generous and heaps of shared veg. Had whole plaice myself which was fresh and cooked perfectly, with a basket of chips. Had deserts and stayed ages!!! Not expensive, mains were £15 but very good value.
Absolute gem of a pub!!!
Off again today to the Wild Goose for Sunday Lunch. It has fabulous food and service. We book every time we are visiting #DaisyCottage in Shaldon.
Great place. Pain to park if C/p is full but worth the effort. Food was superb and wholly recommend the mussels. Excellent. Good selection of gin and bar staff were good fun. All mains were on time and beautifully cooked. Recommend this place wherever possible but book early.
Went again last night 15/10/22 and again a superb evening. Very comfortable. Lovely staff, friendly and obliging. Food was just sublime. Absolutely no portion control and we were all completely full and more. Just a wonderful experience in a great setting. It is a place I save for special occasions. Well worth the excitement and build up to visiting. Totally recommend this as a top 'secret' venue. Outstanding.
Loved it. Found it through Google maps and had a Sunday roast. Beautifully cooked meat and the vegetables played an equally excellent part, the puddings are to die for. Dog friendly in the bar area too.
During a week long stay in Combeinteignhead with a big group of friends we went to The Wild Goose about four times because it was close to the house we had rented and because the food was so delicious. The staff are super friendly too. One of them remembered our drinks orders from just one visit, which was really nice.
Popped in to say hello! Incredibly friendly and relaxed pub, serving reasonably priced food and drink! Tucked away so do seek this out for a decent meal and drink!
