Went to a reception after a funeral. Wonderful staff, very friendly and helpful. Took out a ramp to enable family members wheelchair to enter. Drinks were good price and food was lovely. Great atmosphere even on such a sad occasion without disrespecting the situation. Highly recommended for fun and family events.

Love going there for a pint or two. Food when available has been great but the chef left recently and I haven't had food since. My favourite local since I moved to York 20 years ago.

Well what can I say, After a visit to York recently I decided to sample the local pub where we stayed. A great night was had by friends and family. Will certainly be returning.

Friendly staff, good food, reasonable price and a nice outdoor area . We made our own atmosphere as there were 7 of us but the pub was quite quiet. Have seen it buzzing at other times.

Had food for the first time Saturday night. Wow! Everything home made. I had the lasagne, my wife had the pie. The place was packed, I recommend booking. Restaurant quality food in our local village pub. Cant wait for my next visit.

This is a total gem of a pub, a traditional British pub, roaring fire, child and dog friendly, lovely outdoor area, clean and cared for.
The staff are friendly and helpful and the landlady always finds time to talk to all her customers with a lovely smile.
The food menu is not extensive but the food is wonderful. The Sunday lunches are amazing. The homemade puddings are to die for.
I recommend the sticky toffee pudding when it's on.
We regularly travel the 35 minute journey to have Sunday lunch here.

Stopped into this pub while waiting for somebody. This is quite a traditional pub serving beer and cask ales. Friendly staff. Comfortable seating but quite open plan, no little snug areas. Seemed to be very popular with locals and families drinking beer, wine and gin and tonics. Advertised a weekly quiz, outdoor seating available, parking located across the road.

If you haven't been to the Royal oak you have to go. Food excellent. Homemade, tasty, great portions, and the cheescake yummy.Service warm and friendly perfect hosts. Parking great. We will be back. Even our baby daughter loved the ice cream. Thankyou. 5 star .
