The Halligan Tavern

First time there and I wasn't too impressed. The decor is cool and it's nice to see all the firehouse stuff. Past that though the beer was flat and the whole place smelled like urinal cakes. We planned on trying the food but menus were caked with food and dirty. Just didn't make the option to eat very appealing. I really like the bar set up but just don't see myself back here anytime soon.

Good food and service. I had the marinated chicken and steak tips with rice pilaf and broccoli. For dessert, I had the tiramisu with a cup of coffee. I have been to a pub in Dublin. They have the lighting right, but, no one has an Irish accent. Men's room stall door needs the door lock repaired. The door won't stay closed. Update;l Saturday, October 13, 2018: I visited at the worst time, the Sox are in the playoffs. No wonder parking was limited. Place is loud. I ordered chicken quesadilla for an appetizer and baked haddock with breadcrumbs, rice pilaf and grilled asparagus. Both were good. No matter where you turn your head, there is a flat screen with the Red Sox on. Really busy. Service was a little slow. But, I am not complaining. I had the same server and she was wonderful. Wifi available.

Irish pub only by name, no Irish dishes offered. I've been here twice. Service is slow and the food is lousy. Others in our party commented on how filthy the bathroom was. Not a great thought when eating somewhere. I ate half of my burger and left the other half...I love burgers. Just speaks to how bad it was. Soggy fries both times. People standing at the entrance smoking is annoying to walk through. Maybe it's great for a drink, but I'd avoid the food at all costs.

Four of us went over this past weekend and sat in the back bar area. It was our first time there. Service was immediate and friendly, food was absolutely delicious and portions generous - all of us took home leftovers. We had shepherd's pie and braised short ribs - all fantastic and we loved our dishes. Our drinks were large and for once, compared to most other bars, we could actually taste there was liquor in them but not so much that it ruined the drink. I can't speak for any other poor review, as this was our first time, but we will definitely be back based on our visit.
