Great place and nice old fashioned pub. Staff friendly and drink not expensive either. Will definitely return.
Well kept Real Ales, well presented wholesome food and Dog friendly.
What could be better than lunch on the patio when the sun shines ?
A Smoked Salmon leafy salad with a pint of Adnams and only a fifteen minute cycle ride from home. Reccomended.
Just across the road is a lovely Church. Within can be found the tombs of two great Suffolk families. The Wingfields and the de la Poles, Earl's and Dukes of Suffolk.
Michael de la Pole fought at the siege of Harfleur in 1415 and gave his life for his King, Henry V (died of dysentery). His Son, also Michael, died at the 'main battle of Azincourt.
He was supposedly buried at Butley Priory. The family were great benefactors in the area. Including financing the construction of the beautiful Late Perpendicular Eye Church tower and the Abbey bridge.
Their Tomb effigies are certainly worth a look.
History speaks to us from centuries past and none more so than in this important rural Church. I reccomend the De la Pole arms. 🍽 🍷🍺 🚲

Locals were friendly, building is amazing, staff great, food excellent, probably need Sat Nav if you're not local. Really lovely well cooked everything. From Mrs. Hodds😁 we were there yesterday, thankyou for a really good Sunday lunch
Really nice and clean pub. Atmosphere is very welcoming. 4 good ales on plus craft beers. Setting is just stunning. Views of the village church and surrounding fields. You can see for miles. The locals are very friendly, always happy to talk and socialise. Bar staff are efficient, friendly and always talkative. The owner actually showed me around the pub and discussed what they do and how the pub had been put together under their ownership. The location is literally in the middle of nowhere (the village) so don’t expect traffic and an easy find.
Nice old oak beamed pub country pub with character, stopped just for beer, the beer was good, clean and fresh. Landlord was friendly and chatty always good when the pub was empty at the end. Open fire in the winter months is always a nice touch.
Very nice situation and good number of outside tables. Beer was nicely kept. Relatively small range. Food was delicious and cooked to order. Landlady was very friendly. Would and will visit again.
Great village pub opposite church.
We were staying at a local B&B so walked to this village pub. Very much a village pub with a good number of dishes on the menu. I had the pizza which looked to be homemade, thin, crispy and very nice. I don't drink so didn't test the ales but lots of locals there so they seemed to like it.
Lovely staff, quaint little village pub, very much in the country style. Warm welcome, very homely and welcoming, very clean and well presented, and the breakfast was delicious! Luke the giant white hound is a perfect host also! 🙃
Excellent Sunday lunch, a cut above the usual Sunday carvery. Good starters and puddings too. There is a very nice restaurant but tables outside also which are nice in the good weather. Local beers available, Adnams Southwold, Broadside and Ghost Ship with one guest ale. Lovely secluded spot on the Suffolk countryside with fine views of St Andrew's church and the surrounding countryside
