Just had our wedding breakfast
and evening reception at the hotel..wedding breakfast excellent. everyone had positive comments about staff and venue and food. Andrea and everyone involved fantastic. The chef was a lovely guy too. Would have given 5 stars but DJ let the night down, most commented it was boring, old type music ,we asked for up to date music has we had lots of young guests so not a lot got up to dance even after requests as he never played them.
Nice clean room. Lovely overhead power shower. Good night's stay. Can hear the nightlife outside but didn't really bother us. Lovely help yourself breakfast. Staff very good. We asked for extra pillows and milk. They bought a jug of milk up to our room to put in the mini fridge. Has a hairdryer. Parking was a 8 mins away to drive but a short 5 mins walk away due to raid works and one way system. You can get parking free if you ask the reception to give you a card. There is a convenience shop right next door and plenty of restaurants on the same road to choose from. A comfortable stay. Would stay again.
I stayed here last week for the murder mystery night. I was impressed to recieve a bottle of complimentary wine for my birthday which was a lovely touch. Within the party we had a few allergies which were dealt with without question (we had emailed allergies in advance). All food was serviced quickly and hot, the staff were very professional and polite. The bed was ginormous!!! The reception area and other areas throughout looks like it’s had a recent update. The buffet breakfast in the morning was fab and fresh. Displayed in smaller portions meant it wasn’t sat on display going stale under the heat lamps and if any dish was empty it was quickly replenished with fresh food. For the price of a murder mystery package to stay over I was thoroughly impressed. Thanks for making my birthday so special.
Overall a nice stay in the center of Doncaster. Plenty of restaurants near but can be quite noisy at night due to many bars and clubs in the vacinity.
Parking was close, although not very clear on booking.com that it's at the Civic Quarter, 5 minute walk away if you don't mind dragging the luggage. Hotel happily refunded the cost.
Room was large, with a Fridge, Iron, kettle and unlimited tea bags and milk.
The air conditioning was an added bonus during humid nights.
Definitely worth a stay in a historic property with character👍
Was visiting a friend i had never met. This was a bad choice and made my 2 nights basically unbearable. Although i never spoke too the staff they was extremely warming and made me feel safe. They had lovely smiles especially the night staff on the 9-3-20 and 10-3-20. I didn't say a thing but they let me sit in the entrance on the sofa with out judging. Would deffo stay here again but with better company.
Check in was easy and professional. Room was well equipped and very clean. The bathroom was large for the type of room with a high powered shower. Bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. The only downside was that the hotel is next to lots of clubs and pubs and so you can hear a bit of noise outside your windows. However, this did not detract from my stay. Car park is a multistory a short walk away and you can get a discounted nightly rate of £4 from the reception at the hotel.
Stayed on a wednesday night and paid £70. Great location in the city centre, the room was a good size and very clean. The heated towel holder in the bathroom was a nice touch, the toiletries were good quality and the room remained lovely and warm all night. Would stay again!
Lovely friendly and helpful staff. An enjoyable dinner and overnight stay (slightly marred by some noisy fellow guests at 03:30 this morning).
Excellent understanding of and provision for my wife's gluten free diet. Thank you! 👍☺️
It is a nice hotel. You go up steps into it. The lift does not hold 5 people, it is too small. My room must have been where the steeple is on the 3rd floor because I could not look out and see the street just the sky. Comfortable though and warm. Comfortable double bed. Big TV and drink making facilities. Big bathroom. There towels are bath sheets. Every meal you eat you have to pay separate for. The staff are okay and can be helpful.
It is in town centre. Walk through the pedestrian areas and across the road is the train station. Night live is good for all taste. There is a night club too called Flares. And, of course, there are pubs which play music well into the early hours.
The bus route to the racecourse goes past the hotel. Remember through because it is the town centre, traffic go around roundabouts. I found out to my cost, the time a taxi takes to take me from train station to hotel and back again, I could have walked it in less time and saved myself money I could have used elsewhere. As I caught taxis twice that day to go to racecourse that day.
I know the cost saving routes now and will use them. I am not sure how a wheelchair user would get in and stay at this hotel. Best ring them up first and make sure they can accommodate you before you book to stay here.
Lovely old style hotel with modern rooms, only thing was there were no biscuits with coffee tray which I like. Great price at £55 for the night. Would definitely stay again.
