Was surprised by how the service appears to have improved since a previous visit. Very fast table service when ordering on the app, very pleasant staff and breakfast beans on toast served hot, which isn't the case in my local'spoons! The only downside is probably out of their control, being some of the people who frequent it.

After a nightsail from Oostende to Dover we where tired but very happy. The drinks and foods where splendid and we loved that there is no music so you can have a normal conversation. Next time in Dover i will look no further but go strait to The Eight Bells:)

Atmosphere is usually ok but depends on your tolerance levels. Afternoons after school can be a bit testing. And whilst most parents make sure their kids are under control there are always those that are only interested in the cheap booze 🫣 Food is always good as a minimum. But mostly excellent. Never had a bad meal. Service is exceptional and staff are generally very friendly, attentive and courteous. Value for money, especially in the cost of living crisis, is essential and you simply cannot go wrong here 😎

We visited the 8 bells for a Sunday brunch, they serve breakfast from 8am to 12am - breakfast deals are really cheap compared with the rest of the menu, totally worthy. We chose a vegetarian breakfast, mushroom Benedict and one coffee, as coffee allows refills we shared it. It was 10,81£ for 2, and portions are good size, so we recommend it, also a lot of other vegetarian options (sweet and savoury) and some vegan options, which I always appreciate. Quality of the food was good, nothing surprising but considering the price it met the expectations. Only negative point for me is that decoration is kind of dark and with low daylight and I prefer brighter places, but that’s something personal. Service was quick, although you need to order at the bar, but the they bring the food to the table.

Never judge a place by it's look. Visited here and had a shared meal for £14 for 2 people which I believe is great value for the food we had. I used the pubs easy to use app, from ordering to the table was really quick and food was very good. Staff I came into contact with, were very polite, friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again when passing via Dover.

A rather dark gloomy pub with lots of dark wooden walls. However, the beer was excellent. I, a Welshman, was drinking a North Wales brew, Conwy Beachcomber, in Kent, South East England. Clearly the beer travelled well, better than I did ! 😄🍺😋
