Staying at the Travelodge across the road. Decided to give this place a chance.. Hardly any people in the pub.. Had few drinks before I was going to order. Thankfully the bar man told me they where shutting the kitchen at 8 because the pub was dead. If he hadn't I wouldn't of been able to order. Strange policy.. I ordered the Sirloin steak. Arrived after 15 mins. Was an ok meal. Chips a little under done. Steak was very thin and a bit dry. Seemed a better chose than the carvery.. The staff where very polite and helpful.. No complaints there... Pub has a pool table and has a nice feel.
Brilliant buffet with plenty carved meat 👍 excellent value for money 👌
Best carvery in area. Good portions. Lovely friendly staff
Arrived there with my grandad just as the place was opening for the day. The person who served us was attentive enough without being overbearing. The food was very good, beef was just perfect. We got a plateful each for the price. Between me and my grandad we were little over £20, well worth going to as excellent value for money, excellent food and excellent service.
Okay the mash potato tasted like it was 1 part potato and 2 parts water and I think some of the roast potatoes were actually parsnip or something. These were probably the only negative points I could think of.
I don't think there was a vegetarian gravy, which I don't honestly care about. There were no peas but they did have sprouts. There were also chips, which is the first time I've ever seen these at a carvery.
We went at about 5 o clock and the meat looked like it had recently been placed on the heated serving place. It tasted like heaven. There was gammon, turkey and beef. I had the gammon and beef because I had too much turkey at Christmas.
I piled my plate so high with vegetables I felt so sick on the way out.
The girl who served us was an expert at cleaning up after customers. Practically as soon as they left she was on their table moving the plates away and wiping up. She was friendly and asked us how we were doing. She asked us while we did not have food in our mouth which is what waiters normally do so this was a massive plus.
You get salt and pepper on tables, and a menu if for some reason you didn't want a carvery. Various pub food choices. Go for the carvery though, it was devine.
Food is fairly cheap and atmosphere there is great. Would recommend.
Edit: came again a week later and the mash potato was beyond gorgeous and was thicker, the roasts all tasted heavenly and they had peas this time! Really enjoy this place.

We love the Stonefield. Decent food, nice homely atmosphere.
We were looked after by Luke, very friendly and helpful - he even recommended a gas safe engineer to do some much needed work for us.

Have passed by Stonefield a few times and never thought to stop in until today when wifey and I felt a bit peckish so decided to drop in for some lunch. Excellent service from the minute we walked in until we left from the staff. The food was great and reasonably priced would highly recommend.
After 12 days in Scotland this place had the best value starters ever. Mains excellent too. Not nouvelle cuisine, just really good pub food.
