Enjoyed a tasting here via the Scotch whiskey experience platinum tour + taste of Scotland. Food for the tasting was pretty good, you get to try many iconic Scottish dishes/flavors which have been upscaled. But it's not a lot of food and you will probably leave wanting more and hungry.
Wonderful place to eat and drink! We did the whisky tour and then went down to this restaurant to have a meal. They have an extensive drink booklet (Yes! Not a menu but a booklet!). The food and desserts were delicious and the drinks were amazing! We loved it! Thank you, Amber Restaurant!
We went here on a freezing day, after spending hours exploring the castle! They have a phenomenal selection of whiskeys, the food is mouth watering and flavoursome! We got to try a lot of things- The trout, stovies, chef’s selection of Tapas and the soup of the day!
I recommend reserving a table in advance online, it’s a busy place and they often donot have walk-ins available!
It was such a heart warming meal, the service was great we ordered some hot water for the table and we were given a pot free of charge! We also ordered some winter warmers and the bar obliged to make us some even when they were not lister on the menu!
We went for a whiskey tasting experience. The staff were very kind and polite. We also ordered a chef's selection of Scottish tapas. It was amazing. The tasting flight was really good. Actually bought one of them from the duty free. If you want a lovely (and classy) tasting experience, highly recommended.
Decent food and excellent service at a restaurant right below the entrance to Edinburgh Castle. We went during lunch hours expecting higher prices considering the increased foot traffic of this location, but we were pleasantly by the overall moderate prices and variety on the menu. Our food was decent; the beef in our beef casserole was extremely tough, but the flavour was there, and dishes like the salmon and chive cream cheese sandwich left something to be desired. Overall, a good experience, although there are better places for moderate prices outside this touristy zone of Edinburgh.
We bought the most expensive tour on its website for 90 pounds. It was worthwhile. The guide taught us how to distinguish whiskey’s flavor, color, smell, and taste. At the end of the tour, we had a dinner at Amber Restaurant. The food is delicious! Overall, we had a pleasant night at Scottish whiskey experience in Edinburgh.
I went for my lunch in this restaurant and I must say what a delicious food I had here. From the soup of the day to the Lamb stovies, all were so yummy. I was recommended to try a Scottish beer called Fraoch and it was nice too. This restaurant is very next to the Edinburgh castle. This restaurant remains busy.
Scotch and good food, staff really know how to help, and I'm glad we did this on our first night. Truly a great way to start a holiday and a great experience.
A true whisky experience and culinary delight! They have it all - 100+ whiskeys from all over Scotland and an impressive yet small menu that is sure to please both adventurous and tame palettes. Try a flight of regoinal whiskys! They have the experts who can steer you to something wonderful. I tried the chicken wrapped haggis and it was rich and scrumptous! If you are anywhere near the top of the "Royal Mile", it's a must stop occasion.

The actual whiskey tour was completely separate. Went on tour for 90 minutes, then we were directed to the restaurant. The only link between your and food was a drink paired with dessert. Plate of 3 apps followed by 3 entres. Good way to try several things at one meal. Dessert was wonderful!
