We visited last night on our first night together in Edinburgh. We arrived late for our booking as we went to the wrong Whiski Room restaurant, but they still managed to accommodate us.
We chose this place based on the reviews and the look of the menu. The food did not disappoint. We had the venison and the lobster mac and cheese, followed by the sticky toffee pudding & white chocolate brûlée. The only drawback we had was that the person that served us initally made it obvious that our lateness was causing an inconvenience, which soured our mood initially. We looked past that however, and enjoyed the experience very much.
The restaurant was very attractive and we will definitely consider coming back again!
While planning for our vacation in Edinburgh, I researched a lot and everytime the name of Whiski Rooms would pop up for eating haggis and tasting whiskey. Hence on very first day we headed for our dinner there and yes we were not disappointed. I loved their ambience and staff. We ordered traditional Haggis , chips and 4 Whiskey tasting variety. Overall it was good experience. I have deducted one point as I found finger foods we're bit overpriced. The food was good and so we're the whiskeys ( hic)
Took a foodie blogger friend to Whiski Rooms recently and she loved their approach to Scottish cuisine. We had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked, full of really nice flavours. Portion was huge and staff friendly, even if a bit slow to take our orders and deliver the food. But, overall, nice place to eat if you want to escape all the touristy places in and around the Royal Mile.
Impressive. Great menu, amazing location, superb drinks selection (which is important) and a most enjoyable meal.
In an area packed with overpriced and unimpressive food targetting the tourists, this definitely comes recommended.
The lunch menu is simple and to the point: soup; sandwiches; or a small selection of light dishes, all very reasonably priced.
Lovely view and atmosphere in here, the food is good and a good selection, but a little pricy even for central edinburgh.
Drinks wise there is a fantastic selection, with some fabulous beers, but the standard whiskies are not value for money and priced quite high, so go for something a bit more adventurous as the pricing is much more value for money
staff are very knowledgeable and the food is great.
Absolutely lovely and authentic Scottish food - most of it grown locally.
A huge range of whiskies. They have something called "flights" - which offers a tasting (25ml) of 4 different types of whiskies with similar tones.
Loved my cullen skink - the first time I was trying it (smoked haddock soup) - creamy and gorgeous. The wild pigeon breast was gorgeous. meaty and succulent. For mains I had the haggis - sourced from MacSweens - loved the haggis, not too excited about mashed potatoes and mashed turnips on the side. I know its a traditional combination and is a classic. But honestly I would prefer a bit more bite in my food.
The seabass was the star of the evening. Beautifully cooked and combined with chorizo and potatoes, the first time I was having pork and fish in the same dish. The veal shin was also wonderful.
The choice was different and traditional Scottish and we loved our experience.

Good selection of whisky, but everything on the menu was in the bar. Not really a pub atmosphere, more like a bar. Great view of the city.
I saw the comments on Xiaohongshu（Chinese social app）.The haggis is good.I also taste the whisky which is also fine.I order the meal deal which is 35 pounds which includes the Scottish iconic dishes.It's also suitable for one people to come.
The staffs are very friendly.
The overall experience is good but the price is not cheap at all.
We had a wonderful dinner experience here. All dishes we ordered were tasty. The scotch egg and the Whiski Rooms salad were both nice. Salad sauce was quite special, and the vegetables within were fresh. My friend and I ordered Scottish salmon and venison rump for main courses. I especially loved the venison rump. The meat was tender, flavorful, seasoned really well. I also liked the caramelized cabbage and carrot that came with the venison. I enjoyed the blood orange cocktail as well. Service was great, and the restaurant had a cozy atmosphere. Overall a highly recommended place for some Scottish cuisine.
We stopped into the Whiski Rooms for lunch, it was delicious! Jaime was so very kind and welcoming when we came in. We had olives, sourdough and lamb, my husband had a flight of whiskey and I had wine. Gluten free is clearly marked on the menu which is important to me. It was quiet and comfortable. Stop by and you will not regret it.
Overall nice place with good food… we really enjoyed the main dishes, meat so tasty but I wasn’t keen on the sticky toffee pudding ( sooo dry, didn’t like it at all) and the whisky experience was so pleasant (kitchen closes earlier than what I expected, 22:00). Recommend

Had a great dinner here about a week ago. They have an impressive whisky menu and the service was really good. I had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. My wife and I both really enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding at the end of the meal too. Just a great meal in Edinburgh. I would highly recommend coming here, just a great experience overall!

While looking for lunch we walked past Whiski Rooms. My son and I were so happy we ate lunch there. My son ordered the steak and chips and I ordered the steak sandwich. My son loves his steak, as it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My sandwich was great. I loved the caramelized onions with the steak. Prices are fair, dress is casual and staff is friendly.
We came for the whiskey tasting experience and definitely were not disappointed. We didn’t book ahead of time for a full tasting experience but they have smaller, less formal tasting options in the bar area. Our server had awesome recommendations for us. For myself, I preferred a cocktail and they did not disappoint. I gave our server a flavor profile and he made me a custom drink.
For the food, we only got snack/bar food. The fresh, hot, and crusty sourdough bread with the balsamic vinegar was DELICIOUS and an absolute MUST order.
If we’re ever in town here again, we’ll definitely be coming back by here.
My daughter and I went here early because we were doing a tour at 6:15p. The 35 day dry aged steak was excellent and the chips (fries) were really lightly fried and crispy. I enjoyed the rocket (salad).
They have an extensive whisky list and Scotch flights. This allows for some rare tastings and a variety of tastings. They have live music that we might come back for later tonight!
