The food is always great, and even if it's crowded the service is fast and friendly. They have a nice variety of breakfast combos. Great place to go if you are craving for Mediterranian food. Menu is reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
cute little establishment with friendly staff and excellent service. Toasted paninis were delicious I had the Brie and cranberry and my sister had hummous and halloumi and really worth the price you do pay a little more for lunch here but really worth it I would come again
Beautiful Mediterranean eatery on a street leading up to the Royal Mile, stopped for a late late lunch. Ordered the lamb kofta panini, the kofta were juicy and delicious. The plate huge. Loads of salad, which is always welcome. Loved this place.
We had eaten the night before at the Italian Restaurant next door and having perused Laila's Menu decided to go back there the next evening...which we did. I had the Moroccan lamb meatballs in tomato with rice and my wife ordered the Chargrilled chicken skewer with rice and a side Greek salad.
As it was the first week in September I will forgive the waitress who might have been a student and new, for not offering that both meals came with a salad and so my wife always in search of veggies when traveling, struggled to eat her large portion of chicken and rice whilst I ate most of the side salad.
Word to the owner...please tell the new help...advise the patrons that the meal is accompanied by a salad...it will be money in our pockets as they may also have room for desert...which we didn't as they didn't skimp on the olives :)
Regardless...a very good meal on Cockburn Street and while their beer and wine list was limited it appears they have a BYOB and will charge you 4 pounds corkage...but don't take my word for it...check them out during the day and return for dinner!
It was a very good restaurant with lovely helpful personel and delicious meals. We aet pasta of the day and it is very very delicious. I absolutely advice there. And by the way it is a halal restaurant for Muslim people. We asked the details. You can eat in there especially you are a Muslim.
Really nice place - great, friendly service and food which was on point. It was fresh and delicious. Great menu for kids as well. Highly recommended!
We really liked Laila's!
The staff and service was great! Really friendly waitresses!
We had a mezze platter to share which was tasty with a great selection.
We liked that you can bring your wine and sat here for hours watching the world go by.
I would recommend it!
On a recent shopping trip round our fair town we found ourselves in old town and needing good food. We'd spotted Laila's before but had not been able to get so this was a perfect opportunity to try lunch as it was fairly quiet. We had a meze style including potatoes (Batata Harra), falafel with hummus, deep fried halloumi with cranberry sauce and Baba Ghanoush with Iraqi bread. It was all delicious and we were full at the end.
We've tried dining at Laila previously but it was always quite full in the evenings. However, last week, the place was relatively quite and we managed to get a lunch booking. After a whole month of turkey and mince pies, it was nice to have something a bit different for a meal. I ordered the baba ghanoush and iraqi bread for starters and husband ordered the friend halloumi - they were lovely although it isn't the best baba ghanoush I've had. As it was a tapas style meal, we topped up our starters with some fried spicy potatoes, falafel and salad. All very tasty. Finally,we ordered the baklava with cardamom ice cream for dessert and it was excellent! We are definitely going for for more.
Brilliant light lunch out in the sun. Shared a mezze board with delicious hummus and very flavoursome venison salami. Ice cream with saffron and cardamom for dessert was wonderful!
This place is an absolute delight to visit. Its central location is ideal, making it easily accessible. The decor is truly captivating, adding to the overall charm of the establishment.
The food and drinks served here are not only delicious but also come in generous portions, making it a fantastic value for the price. The service was exceptional, with a friendly and attentive staff that went the extra mile to make the visit enjoyable.
I wholeheartedly recommend this place if you happen to be in the vicinity. It's a beautiful spot that offers a memorable experience.
Great little bistro at Cockney street by Old Town Edinburgh. We got the waffles and also got the chicken on tops of that. The sweet and salty combo was well executed.
We tried the Holy Water drink which was a pinkish pomegranate based beverage. We did not enjoy it very much and thought it wasn’t fresh pomegranate that was used. Thus, a 1 star deduction.
All in all, still a great dining experience. Place was clean and service was above average.
We are from Argentina, and my boyfriend is a baker. When we travel, we like to try different brunch places. I had this place saved to visit, and it did not disappoint at all. The quality of the food is incredible. SHAKSHOUKA is the dish that I recommend trying the most. Incredible is an understatement. The French toast Oreo was exquisite; the temperature was perfect, and the toast was very well-made.
I went here in May 2023. The Beyoncé Renaissance Weekend. I had a lovely time. The atmosphere was great. The decor was on point and the cleanliness was spot on. Loved the amount of pink everywhere. The music that was playing had me dancing in my seat nonstop. The food was cooked to perfection. I had the Pink Avocado Toast. So yummy. My friend had the Mushrooms meal. The service was excellent. Everyone had a smile on their face. Very attentive. The cocktails tasted great too! I had the margarita. So delicious. 10/10 would recommend. Will be back.
really nice place for breakfast/brunch! i had the oreo brioche and my parents had the poached egg with brioche! the food was really tasty and the portions were big!
the only downsides were that my mom’s egg was overcooked (didn’t ooze like it was supposed), some of the drinks came after the food and the music was a little loud inside!
I went here 3x during my stay. It was lovely and it felt cozy. A good place to relax and have some fun food! I tried a few of the drinks, the Lucky Charms, the Ruby Hot Chocolate, and the Gold Digger. All were good but the Gold Digger was the best. I tried a few of the breakfast dishes and they were good, wasn’t a huge fan of the shakshuka because it was a bit more spicy than I anticipated. Overall, good food and lovely vibes! Oh and the pomegranate juice was a go-to, super refreshing!
We went to Laila's after an escape room. It was lovely for a light lunch. Interesting and different menu. Having found it I will be back to try more of the Interesting combinations of tastes.
The food is pretty good, but the main attractions are the pink waffles (with fried chicken is weird though IMO) and the candy floss or unicorn pancakes. Those are big hits with kids. The truffle fries tasted of pesto not truffles.
Lovely place and even more lovely team. I loved Tino, with his energy and bubbly personality, and the adorable Kerstin. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the sweet girl who took my order. Delicious oat meal cappuccino. I will definitely be back!
Good food, beautiful atmosphere, and location is everything! Ordered crispy chicken with fries.
