This traditional styled pie shop was recommended to me by a cabbie. The place is separated quaintly into two rooms that you access from the outside. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful and the only sounds are the other diners, which I very much like. The staff was super lovely, we even had a nice chat as it was pretty slow at the time. It felt very homely! The food was also just wonderful. Everything is made to order, which may take a bit longer but it's worth it. If you want to try the traditional pie and mash, this is the place to be if you're around Grassmarket, or even a bit further.
After a cold day out, nothing beats a cup of hot chocolate and a slice of cake in Auld Jock's Pie Shoppe. Located in Grassmarket and among lots of pubs, this tiny cafe stands out for friendly service and... well, delicious cakes! Honestly, if you are around, head over and have a try.
What a great place!. Amidst all the overpriced restaurants and coffee shops in the Grassmarket, this is THE place to look for! Not only are the meat pies delicious, but Auld Jock also serves excellent coffee. Some members of our family visited them several times during our week in Edinburgh. The prices are by far the best in this area. And the counter service cannot be friendlier. Truly recommended, especially for families staying (like us) at a nearby hotel.
