Brill-i-ant! Absolutely fantastic gourmet food, truly a hidden gem. Come and come again for lunch or dinner and explore the menu, which changes often. They have something for literally every taste and dietary preference. Imaginative dishes with immaculate presentation and taste, served by helpful and friendly staff in a cozy, understated and unpretentious environment. Update Oct. 2019: the above still stands 100% - always pleasantly surprised by the imaginative combinations of ingredients & tastes. Bravo!

Great food at a reasonable price. Came for lunch and pre theatre at separate occasions. Recommended.

Good place serving decent sized portions of tasty food. Rotational menu but pretty nice range of standard bistro fare done really well. I had a slow cooked lamb and it was really tasty. For dessert, I would actually recommend the cheese platter, which was amazing. Only downside is that it is noisy. No noise reduction and popularity amongst hen/stag nights (been three times, seen one every time, maybe was chance) disrupts the nice environment.

I was there with a party of six last night and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. Like many others have already said, the service is friendly and excellent but you should expect a busy place where everyone of the staff is constantly moving. We all had variations of the set menus and every course was excellent. I have eaten better but not for this price - the value that you get for your money is amazing. Make sure to reserve a table on Fridays and Saturdays.

Regular customer, one of my favourite resturants, great food, fantastic value supper menu, friendly staff, the Apartment never disappoints. Great for an after work dinner, pre-theatre meal, for a celebration or a supper for two. Welcoming atmosphere so you would feel comfortable dining alone as well. Would highly recommend... A definite 5 🌟 restaurant. Can't praise the Apartment enough... Go & try it, enjoy!

We went on a quiet lunchtime, so there wasn’t much atmosphere and it was on the cold side (inside and out). The service was good, I found the flat iron steak was a little flavourless and was cooked more than I’d asked for. It also arrived just barely warm, with garlic butter on top was more raw garlic than anything else. The salad was just watercress with no dressing and it came with a pile of thin fries - it just wasn’t very inspiring. Having said that, the others I dined with had various types of skewers and they said they were tasty. We tried the sharing selection of desserts and they were hit and miss, some were very good, others average. It was a generous portion, but really there was too much on the plate for a lunchtime, even sharing between two. I wouldn’t rush back, but it would be somewhere I’d consider.

This is my absolute go-to for food in the area - not only is the food and wine fantastic and high quality, but the service is great, friendly and welcoming and they have a fantastic set menu that means you can have a really delicious meal at a bargain price of £15. There is no such thing as bad wine in this place, it's all delicious. I'd recommend ordering the bread and olives before your meal as they have the most amazing gigantic green olives and the tastiest fresh bread. They also serve really well made coffee, and I'm very picky about coffee, so don't say that lightly. I can't recommend it enough.

Been 3 times in last 2 weeks. As far as I'm concerned best place to eat in Edinburgh. Great food flavour combination and cooked to perfection. So easy to eat healthy if you want to and enjoy every morsel. Wonderful staff. So good so busy. Book table in advance to avoid disappointment

I have eaten here many times, I live around the corner. Lovely food, atmosphere and service. Extra mention and thanks must go to staff who were wonderful one night when I took ill, suddenly. Hadn't had a chance to have single bite of the lovely food as I felt ill and had to run home.....Hubby was so worried and the waiter told him not worry about settling up till later, just follow me and make sure I was ok. An hour later I was fine...we paid next day for the starters we had to leave, but they wouldn't charge us for the wine. Lovely people. Go there. Enjoy.
