After tearing into Badger & Co for being a New Town style palace with zero substance, I’m not sure too many people would have been recommending that I give Tigerlily on George Street a visit, but I was hungry and nearby so thought I’d give it a go. Flagship bar of the Montpelier Group, Tigerlily had a major renovation last year, just about the same time Copper Blossom arrived on the scene. The same aesthetic is at work and the space is smart, flexible and caters for a range of needs, from drinks to dining to relaxed catch-ups over coffee.
Gorgeous bar in a hotel on George street with Asian fusian food. Nicely decorated and great choice of cocktails - we had the pornstar martini and the grey goose fizz - pretty good and only £8 each.
Finally, after over a week of trying to fit in a review on Tiger Lily, here it is and a glowing one too. We went here for my 16th Birthday meal and it really was a first time experience.
The interior and ambience of the whole place (bar, restaurant and Hotel) is amazing - first class luxury! We could not fault anything - the seating areas are so quirky and different from one another, the lighting is fitting and the over all decor is just Lush.
The waitresses and Waiters were so polite, friendly and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble and the customers really are their main concern - fast service with a smile.
Skipping starters to save room for dessert we went straight onto mains.
The Hanging chicken skewer with peanut sauce was so yummy and tender - the peanut sauce, for once, tasted peanut-y and the couscous was fresh, herby and piping hot.
All three of us couldn't stop umming and ahhing about how lovely the food was - and none of us could find any fault in anything we had ordered.
Dessert was divine and there was so much that we fancied that we got three desserts to share between us.
Highly recommended is the Chocolate Brownie - Gooey and Fudgy on in the inside and crispy on the out. Super Chocolaty with the Vanilla Ice Cream balancing out.
The Raspberry Yogurt Cheesecake was super tasty too - although rather sweet - with a scoop of Cheesecake Ice cream.
We enjoyed ourselves so much and got a proper experience of fine dining with Tiger Lily - none of us wanted to leave.
Tiger Lily is well worth the money and comes highly recommended on my behalf for a fabulous evening dining experience.
Service is cold and while there is nothing wrong with the food, there is also nothing exciting or exceptional about it. The perfect place for when you want to splash the cash and cant think of a better place to go
This was a great restaurant for food and drinks. The ambience is colourfully decorated though the noise is a bit loud generally. It was crowded even on weekdays. The food tasted great. The service was decent and the staff was friendly. We got a separate enclosure for a large group on advance booking.
Tigerlily is a upscale restaurant that also has a bar area for customers who want a quick drink with friends. I only visited the bar area and although you're seated on bar stools, it's not at all tawdry. You're seated at high light coloured wood tables with a beautiful lily in a vase and a lamp to keep the lighting at a reasonable level. We ended up sharing a bottle of pink sparkling wine which was divine. The waiting staff were very courteous and attentive and didn't pressure us into ordering food with our drinks. For customers who were only ordering drinks, the customer service was top notch.
Unbelievably there were only two tables occupied on Wednesday. Yes, we are members, but anyone can eat at the Restaurant. Located on Queen’s Street, it is a really short walk from George and Princes Street.
The set menu is £14.95 if you are a member or if you have room for 3 courses £18.95 (add 10% on to the prices if you’re not a member). It was one of those menus where all of the dishes sounded equally appealing. We decided upon Confit of Pork with candied apples and Sea Bass with Fennel and Champagne Sauce. Both were beautifully cooked, with subtle flavours.
The champagne sauce was made with a delicate, flavoursome stock, the sauce for the pork, rich and unctuous. For desert, in my opinion the best desert of the festival although Mr EF was less sure about the ice cream. Linzertorte made with plums rather than jam and szechuan pepper ice cream. I loved the way the spicy (think of chai tea) ice cream complemented the glorious almond and plum tart.
Our only caution, is not to choose this option if you are in a hurry, the food is delivered in a rather relaxed fashion, but it really, really well worth a visit.
Tigerlily was a welcome change from the cold and wet outdoors and provided us with the solution to our starvation. The food was on the most part very tasty, the starters were both very good and whilst the Caesar salad lived up to my expectations of being quite bland it did not satisfy my dining partner. I enjoyed my main of fish and chips and as a lifelong cheesecake addict was very satisfied with the ginger biscuit based raspberry ripple extravaganza - I'm not sure why it's no longer on the menu but will hopefully be back should we ever re-visit.

This is (in my opinion) the best cocktail bar and venue in Edinburgh. From the moment you step in the door, your welcomed into the most beautiful surroundings. Treated like you matter / super personal and friendly. The food is top notch with reasonable prices. Cocktail and drink menu is outstanding, they also have a £6 menu which has something for everyone. Everything is so fresh, immaculate with great ambience.
If your going on a date or treating a mum or partner- this is THEE place to go. Cannot fault it... also inside smoking area. I have tried most bars etc and this has and always will be my favourite.
Kids allowed during the day.
Cannot be beaten on every level. The staff are the best 5* indeed.
We just had afternoon tea there which was soooo amazing. The service was lovely as we had the fantastic Paulina serving us tea. We are all very satisfied and pleased with the brilliant food and the amazing person who give it to us! Will be back soon. Leach family Xx
We had afternoon tea here and had a lovely time. I had mentioned on our reservation that we were celebrating my sister's birthday and they had a glass of bubbly and a handwritten card waiting at the table for her! The service was attentive without being obtrusive. The food that was part of the tea was good and we enjoyed the experience very much.
Had a lovely couple of nights at Tiger Lily on George Street, Edinburgh. Staff very friendly and welcoming and looked after us well. Room very generous size and comfortable, quiet at night. Bars were fun at night and we had lovely cocktails and food. Highly recommended - will be back !
Noisy but lively and clearly popular bar on ground floor as the entrance. However, the bedrooms are largely unaffected by this, especially if you're on the top floor. They are plush, spacious, very well-equipped and -appointed, and with wonderfully comfortable beds. Great bathroom and large walk-in shower. Really smart.
Splendid choice for breakfast and cheery, friendly staff - notably Seren when I was there.
If you're wanting the typical grand lobby and crisp white table cloths then go elsewhere as there aren't any. Not cheap but the quality of stay, location and quirkiness of this boutique hotel matched the price.
Came for a fantastic set menu for a Net Zero dinner, had the lovely Adam serving us, who despite us being a large party which is not easy, ensured we were well fed and watered. Great night, thanks Adam and team
While visiting Edinburgh we went here for afternoon tea and it was one of the best meals we had during our trip. The food and pastries were so delicious and the cocktails we had were some of the best we’ve ever had. Highly recommend!
Just had such a lovely stay in this hotel on Tuesday night.
Staff were so so welcoming and helpful from the get go, nothing was too much to ask and service was provided with a smile. I got the vibe they really enjoy and are proud of their job which was lovely to see.
The room itself (luxury double) was so
spacious and very well equipped with a lovely comfy bed, well stocked mini bar and coffee machine, GHD straighteners and hairdryer, and a lovely bathroom.
Breakfast in the morning was so tasty with a great selection of menu items. In the evening we were recommended the club/bar Coco Boho below the hotel and very kindly given a complimentary drink which was lovely.
If you’re looking for a unique and welcoming stay in the city, I would highly recommend!
Great place for afternoon tea, the selection was to die for! Cocktails were amazing and atmosphere was good too! Music was a bit loud for cross table convo but it was a great day. Interior is stunning!
Lovely anniversary meal. Staff were super friendly. Made us laugh when they told us we had ordered exactly the same as the couple at the next table.
Recommend the sharing fondue dessert.
I'm obviously getting old (35) as I found the music too loud. Hard to hear each other even across a small table.
