Food was delicious. Wait was a little long, for just the two of us it was no big deal, but families should probably be aware it'll take a while to get your food. It's worth it though! Atmosphere could have been better (no music?)
Authentic South Indian Restaurant. It was previously known as Mezbaan and we weren't aware of the name change. Food was lovely. Served hot and fresh. Friendly staffs and lovely atmosphere with pleasant music in the background. Would definitely visit again if visiting Edinburgh.
Authentic Indian taste in decent price at such beautiful ambience. Totally loved the masala dosa and chicken biryani. Worth every penny. Must visit place if you crave for tasty Indian food. Pocket friendly for students as well.
Went there several times. I like their food. But just be careful they have pork and beef on their menu. I am not Indian or Muslim so I didn’t really understand but just for your information. Good restaurant.
We had a marvelous dinner here! The food was excellent, service was attentive. We had the tikka masala, raita, plain naan (which seemed to be lightly flavored with coconut, but apparently wasn't), the coconut rice, and the dry fried beef. I wish we lived closer!
Loved it! Food was fantastic. Staff were very nice, cordial and welcoming!
Fantastic food ! Very high quality especially liked the service from “Manoj” one fish dish fabulous and one chicken dish the 21 spice main was very good overall to sum this place up is what an excellent restaurant with very nice relaxing / calming music in the background was lovely - sit down and enjoy 😊
Absolutely Fabulous!
We had an unusual request to make of the guys at Nilgiri Spice and my goodness did they deliver! Can you do a private birthday lunch please, for about 30 people to celebrate our dear friend's 90th Birthday? Oh and by the way he won't actually be attending, because sadly he passed away a few weeks ago, but we'd like to do it anyway as he was such a special friend.
Without even a blink, Manoj, manager of the NG (formerly Mezbaan), nodded politely and some 3 months later we sat down to a fantastic feast cooked by Aji, head chef at the restaurant and served by Brandon and Manoj with consummate professionalism and tremendous customer care.
Of course the four of us who organised the event, had to have several meetings in NG to plan the lunch with Manoj and Aji and so we had the opportunity to try many of the excellent Keralan dishes on offer (well it would have been rude not to!)..... all of them were beautifully fresh and delicious.
Mixed starter platters - vegetarian and non, chicken vada, chicken tikka, prawn and fish cutlet, potato bona and pakora, which we had at the Lunch, Lamb Nilgiri the chef's special, lamb marinated with 21 spices and slowly cooked, Navratan Kurma, fresh seasonal vegetables, dried fruits, cashew nuts in a cashew and almond gravy with fresh cream and butter, Yum Yum. Daal, various rice dishes, fruity Peshawari Naan, I could go on and on.
On the day, we had several of those mentioned and a cake which Aji cut whilst we toasted our friend. We had a couple of lovely speeches from close colleagues and we finished off a memorable and very special afternoon with coffees/ teas and cake, all carried out under Manoj's watchful eye. Soft drinks, water and coffees were included in the very reasonable price, along with the starters and mains, also pappadoms and pickles. Wines and beers were available for those who wanted them and NG also offers BYOB to those who prefer it.
We can't thank those very special folk at Nilgiri Spice enough for their great service and kind attention. I know the organisers are already planning their next visit to this gem of a Keralan Restaurant in the heart of Tolcross and I am also sure many of the guests who attended will be paying return visits very soon.
We have dined here on many occasions and have always found the food delicious and the service excellent. The menu is somewhat different from other Indian restaurants with its emphasis on South Indian cooking. The dosa is something not to be missed as are the home made chutneys and pickles which accompany the starters. The main courses are superb, as are the breads, especially the paratha. Highly recommended little gem of a restaurant.
I suspect that many of the negative reviews come from rival businesses!
Came upon this restaurant quite by chance after having decided to eat at my hotel. Their menu was tempting and reasonably priced so I ventured in and ordered dinner. Much better than my hotel’s offerings. Spicy as advertised and delicious. I highly recommend this place for fine Indian food.
