After trying The Gurkha my obsession with Nepalese cuisine has yet another favourite restaurant. Alongside Yak and Yeti and Everest, this a bit fancier venue in Morningside is as good as it looks (and staff were super nice to us). Stakes were high, especially since one of our party was nepalese... but The Gurkha delivered a set of appetizers and mains that delighted us all. From their yummy momo's to the very awesome souces for the poppadoms, not to miss the delicious fish curry (a house speciality) and a very tasty mango chicken. Honestly, if you are in the area and craving good food, sit down and enjoy.
I’d been labouring under the misunderstanding that the Clay Oven was the pick of the bunch of the Morningside Indian restaurants, but after a recent visit had revealed it to be decent but a bit unspectacular, I made a note to check out the others. Next up on that particular quest was The Gurkha.
Great curry. Less greasy than traditional Indian curry. They do a quick lunch for £4.95.
