Birthday dinner with the family (12 of us). Some of the party opted for Chinese dishes and others went European. The food was delicious and made to Paul's usual high standards. Jane was a huge hit with the family especially with my mother in law. Service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble despite people arriving a bit late. Highly recommended.

A good local and great to have a few real ales, all of which were in good condition. The locals were all friendly and we felt welcome. Also, the pub was dog friendly. The public bar is a bit compact while the restaurant part seems much more spacious. A good place for a relaxed pint and chat in Balerno.

The absolute best Chinese food I have ever tasted. The food is made from scratch. What a difference to the normal Chinese food you get elsewhere. Had the best won ton soup and crispy Chile beef . Highly recommended. Fab staff too

What an amazing Chinese. Sat in as a family of 3, a nice relaxed place. Served by Jane who was nothing but friendly and catered to everyone’s needs… then onto the food…
Blown away by the quality of the meal. Food fresh and piping hot straight out the kitchen. Every single dish tasted amazing. Would highly recommend and shall be returning soon.

They accommodated 2 old English sheepdogs, we had a great meal, fantastic flavours and generous portions. The staff we really helpful and friendly, as were other people in the pud. Would recommend

Looking at the name, you might be surprised to hear that the Grey Horse Inn is not just a pub - it is also home to the best Chinese takeout in Edinburgh. It's been so incredibly popular with locals since they started offering Chinese food over lockdown that you have call in advance to book your slot. But it's 100% worth it. We've loved it so much that we've sat in a couple of times to enjoy the food too whilst having a pint. And the folks there are always so friendly!

Just begun having occasional band (last week called Chil, see Facebook page and pic) at the new pub hall extension. Great entertainment and good way to spend a late Sunday afternoon with retro music and dancing. Good choice of beers, friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a visit.

Amazing little family run pub, with lovely food, I had the best steak pie and my mum had the lamb shank. It all tasted just home cooked!
