We travel to Edinburgh every summer and have a favorite Indian place we discovered quite by chance a few years ago. This year we discovered they were closed. We were sceptical somewhat about finding a replacement. We happened upon Curry Cafe just walking by and were enticed by the menu posted outside the door. We decided to try a new place and were quite delighted. The korma was the tastiest we have ever had anywhere. It was so creamy and full of flavour and texture; same for the butter chicken and the other curry we chose. Naans were light and flavourful. The pilau rice was equally delicious. My only complaint would be that it would be nice if a small side of rice were to be included with each curry. But I do understand everyone’s pinched due to inflation right now. We were advised as soon as we approached the counter that the prices on the menu on the wall had gone up, and these were displayed on a menu board above the counter. Service was delightful and the staff were entirely cheerful and seem delighted to have us in. We’ll definitely be back.

When people say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, they’re referring to places like this. From the outside it’s cheap and shabby looking, but the food is outstanding. Why this we curry house isn’t packed with pre-theatre dinners I’ll never know. Thanks for a lovely meal and great service.

They took their time with the large mixed kebab but it tasted 👍 (tho the donner was a wee bit stale). Asked for more variety in the accompanying salad and staff were quick to offer mixed peppers & spiced onions. The cafe could do with a spruce up....they do have a very small WC be careful as the steps leading down to them are steep....

Great food & great prices The best Butter Chicken I have had in the UK; full of flavour not like the usual too sweet to eat British version. . Food was very flavourful and arrived on time, and hot. We will definitely be ordering again soon!

Have you walked by here and thought, "Oh, there's another cheap and cheerful curry house!"? Well, you were wrong - but that's alright; because there's still time to see the error of your ways. Curry Cafe serves up delicious Indian fare to a culinary standard one would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. The service was impeccable. The location: unbeatable. I've never been so pleasantly surprised and impressed. I highly recommend a visit. The Bombay Aloo and Onion Bhaji were my particular favourites. We'll be back for sure.

AMAZING CURRY FOR THE PRICE This place strikes me more as a takeaway place however it's very nice to sit in as well. Came for dinner at around 8pm on a Saturday and there were plenty of tables available. I got the meal deal for 1, which includes 4 pakoras, some poppadoms, and a curry of your choice with either rice or naan. I chose the Chicken Rogan Josh and it was pretty good. The service was extremely fast and the food was brought out within minutes. The server was also friendly and asked how the meal was. Would come back here if I wanted a curry that's fast, affordable and good quality!

Extremely friendly staff - especially the owner ‘Manni’ (hopefully correct spelling ;)) was so kind, came asking if everything was alright for us - and it indeed was! Excellent food, pretty low prices - everything perfect. Thank you!
