Loved the hostel. Food was fine, beers were great, stairs were a biotch but that's fine. It's just giving you the true Edinburgh experience :P. Anyways Beds were comfortable. You're given a comforter rather than sheets. So it can be a little toasty sometimes. Friday and Saturday night there's a fair amount of noise outside the hostel you can hear if the windows are open. But it didn't really bother me. I wanted to be in a place where things are happening. And that's what you get here. From the cafe you can see the castle. I wouldn't doubt some rooms have a view of the castle as well. The Activities the hostel puts on are not really advertised very well. Movie night was canceled because netflix wasn't working lol. The walking tour however is on point. I really liked it. Dani and Stephy did a great job. Went on both of theirs. And the walking tour did it's job both times. I made friends. :) Highly recommend Kick ass hostel. If it's booked look for the budget backpackers hostel it's right down the road, and it's owned by kick ass. I liked it too.

This place is Kick Ass! Back in January After my hotel accidentally overbooked my room, I had to leave early and find some other accommodation. This was really the most affordable option last minute. So I booked two nights to figure out where I would go from Edinburgh. I was so pleasantly surprised and impressed, I stayed an additional 5 nights, with three of those nights in my own private room. I’ll definitely consider this place again. It’s not your average hostel, this place is Kick Ass! Plus the view of Edinburgh Castle is just lovely, Grey Friar’s Kirk is just up the road and The Edinburgh Museum is literally a 15/20 minute walk. Great location. Also Mr. Woods Fossil Shop is around the corner, so as a Paleontologist, that was right up my alley. Then I was off to Inverness for a few weeks. Enough of my rambling. Just give these people your business.

I had stayed at hostel last year and I had some great food at the cafe. The cafe is an extremely comfortable place to eat at. It's spacious so you're not bumping elbows with the patrons at the next table. I had my breakfast there everyday during my stay and I absolutely was hooked onto one single dish, their KickAss Breakfast.

The haggis they served was delicious! The meat was minced to perfection. They also served beans and toast but I'm not a big fan of healthy things so I usually would let go of that. The bacon was very yummy! It's slightly on the oily side so I ended up dabbing it with a tissue before I ate it. The egg and sausage were just fine. However, I'd strongly recommend that you would probably need two people to finish the entire breakfast as they serve a pretty substantial quantity. Their cappuccino was a great cure for the hangovers I suffered from every morning. It's pretty customisable too!

It's a great place to sit and read in the mornings and catch up with people over drinks later into the evening.

Good breakfast for the money. Especially if you're hanging! They actually do a great flat white.

(Translated by Google) Stop for a hot chocolate with cream! Coffee redone between the two times we went which makes the place even more pleasant than it was! (Original) Arrêt obligé pour un petit chocolat chaud avec de la crème ! Café refait entre les deux fois où nous y sommes allé ce qui rend l'endroit encore plus agréable qu'il ne l'était !
