Unfortunately closed until further notice with no explanation why. Maybe staffing issues? I’ve been here many times in the past and it’s a nice place for coffee and cake or a snack. Hope it’s back open soon.
Ate here today after doing a 8 mile walk. The food was 10/10! Just what we needed after a long walk. Great staff and atmosphere. Highly recommend
An affordable alternative to the overpriced pub over the road. I had a nice pizza (£13, descent, but cheese was very runny - not at all like proper cheese) and two glasses of claret (£4.50, so-so). Relaxed vibe.

Absolutely lovely place for breakfast, lunch or a snack stop! Walked from Chesters through the landale walk to here just for the breakfast 😋 thanks to all the staff, really dog friendly and couldn't be more kind and helpful..won't be long until we're back for your yummy food ❤️ …
I have passed Slates on many occassion. But finally paid them a visit (just opened when i arrived in Elterwater after a walk along from Skelwith bridge passing Skelwith force along the way)... …
