The Haven Restaurant

I went to The Haven in Epping after work with my boss. It was his treat. Here is what i received for 18 bucks. The scallops were small and quite greasy/saturated with fry grease. the rice was fine but very small portions all around. I understand Scallops are expensive but the ones i was given were very small. Some big ones were expected. Overpriced Marginal Food. Service was excellent and the place is spotless clean. But as a Foodie we have expectations. As you can see from my photos, small small small! Cooking grease was shot/broken-down which ruins the texture and flavor. I will not eat here again no matter who pays!

Food isn't bad, we just stopped for a burger, hot dogs, some ice cream and to feed the ducks. Been here a couple times but haven't tried the seafood. Kids love it here. It's a great little spot to get your kids some lunch and have fun feeding the ducks. My kids are 5 and 3 and they love it here. Feed is reasonable at .50 a cup!

We stopped in for last minute Mother’s Day ice cream. We didn’t realize they were 1 minute from close. We were pleasantly surprised when we were greeted with a warm smile inviting us over to the window so we could order. We were shocked! 5 Sundaes later we were sitting at a nice table outside watching the ducks in their pond. I’m so happy to say this place is like no other. She took us in last minute and didn’t give us a hard time at all. I am sooo impressed with her service as well and the ice cream was amazing as well!! Thank you for being different than the rest and not turning us away because we were too silly to look at the time. Thank you for your smiles, and thank you for your wonderful service! We will be back for sure!!!

Really bad food and really bad service. With so many places looking for help I don't know why kids work there. The owner keeps the tips and is as cheap as they come. Very expensive and badly cooked seafood platters and the ice cream is coming from freezers that look to be 30 years old and probably haven't been cleaned in that time. These is a duck pond in the parking lot and I don't know how why the health dept isn't flipping out over the filthy condition of it. Stay away. There are much better places around that serve much better quality products in a much cleaner space.

What a great place to eat! I grew up in Epping and The Haven is an institution. Been around for a very long time and there's a reason. The food is very good and the ice cream is incredible. The Peanut Butter Pie in a waffle cone is by far my favorite. In case you're wondering, they serve Pepsi products. No Coca Cola. And they have a very friendly and good looking staff. That's important! God bless everyone there and I hope for many more years of The Haven.

Usually I get a decent amount of ice-cream for what I pay. But Sunday, June 24th, I ordered a small and got this tiny scoop. I was charged over four dollars for it. What a rip off. It tasted good, but, I was over charged. I could have gone to the store and bought a half gallon for less. I will not go back. I was polite to staff while ordering. Staff was friendly. I was in a hurry so I didn't go and complain. Update: May 2020; Much better portion! I had the Sea Salt Caramel Truffle with a sugar cone and it was delicious. Service was a little slow, but, finding people is tough for a lot of businesses. The Haven offers cooked food as well. You can use a credit/debit card. Two stars for a better experience.

Well, where to begin? Ordered one haddock plate and one whole clam plate. Both say they came with fries and coleslaw. Got the order home, no Cole slaw with clam plate. Haddock plate had Cole slaw in a 4oz cup but it was half full. So basically 2 oz which made it look like someone had eaten half of it already. Between the two plates there was one approximately thimble size tartar sauce and one thimble size seafood sauce. I kid you not. Haddock was ok, nothing to love. Clams were good. Fries were completely limp. Sort of like when you reheat frozen ones. I'm only 4 minutes from the place so fries could not have gone limp that quickly. Unfortunately I didn't check the meals before we left the place. I should have known something was up because the counter help didn't seem to understand their job. Never going back.
