Superb boutique hotel situated right on the sea front. The staff are full of northern charm, friendly and attentive. This place is stylishly decorated, our room was tastefully modern and the bath was perfect for a long soak. Delicious food in the restaurant, highly recommend the lamb shank for dinner. A good hearty breakfast followed by a walk on the beach make a perfect Sunday morning. The owners are very hospitable and you can clearly see their attention to detail in the small things like the Molton Brown bathroom products. Highly recommend

Fabulous meal last night - I never eat pie that I haven’t made myself #fussyeater - the pie in a pan was amazing! Just a shame we had no room for dessert. Great staff, great place!

Booked dinner this evening Monday 31st May following a recommendation from a stranger. It was a very good recommendation indeed. It is STUNNING here. The attention to detail of absolutely everything is fantastic. Such a great ambience. Classy and relaxed. Great attentive staff. The food is worth every penny you pay, it's so good. Such a fantastic varied menu. Amazing puddings. Even the toilets are a cut above with great smelling hand products which linger and stay in your memory just like this decadent hotel/restaurant. Only wish we lived here'

Couldn’t have asked for anything better for 2 night relaxing getaway. Easy check in, beautifully furnished and finished room. Very comfortable large bed, slept so well especially after a long walk along the beach and a trip up to Whitby Abbey. Made dinner reservations for both nights when we booked, glad we did as justifiably the restaurant was full both nights. Dinner was extremely good, we were very impressed having Beef Wellington, steak and chips, amazing fish and chips and baked salmon during our stay with a great selection of good quality wines. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, quite quirky but tasteful and spotless throughout. Can’t fault our stay at all and the hardworking always helpful staff are a real credit to themselves and the owner. We’ll definitely be returning.

Called in for lunch with family. The hotel is perfectly positioned just across from the sea, beautiful scenery to sit for a meal. We all had the Steak and ale pie which was excellent and I would have again. Recently refurbished to a very high standard. If you are in Filey call in you will not be disappointed.

I found this hotel to be rather difficult to categorise due to the very quirky decor. It's a place that you will either love or hate. Personally, I love it, but many will be put off by some of the artwork. Plus points are the brilliant front of house staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Food is superb, although a little overpriced. Negative points, for the price, the owners should be available, and introduce themselves to their guests. We stayed in room 4, and first impressions were of a well maintained room. On a closer examination, the carpet, being a light colour was extremely dirty with inground filth. An investment in a good quality carpet shampoo cleaner would be worthwhile. Overall, would recommend, but £120.00 would be a more realistic charge for a nights bed and breakfast.

What a fabulous place! My husband and I first stayed at Downcliffe House in November 2018 and we were blown away by the level of detail taken in this boutique hotel. Every room is impeccably decorated and no request is too much trouble for the staff who are friendly and courteous. I have rarely gone to the same place twice, as I have always worried that the second (or subsequent) times wouldn’t be as good as the previous, and that my initial memories will be marred.... but it would have been a sin to not visit again, and so we went back this week (January 2019) and once again it was fabulous. The food was divine, the staff were welcoming, and a special mention to Jade who was very attentive to all guests both in the restaurant and in the bar area. She is a credit to the hotel! Thank you Downcliffe House. Perfect place, perfect settings, perfect location, fantastic staff and exquisite food. Totally amazing, and for those who leave a poor review, take no notice! They obviously don’t have the mental capacity to appreciate the finer things in life. See you again soon for sure!!

Only had coffee so can't comment on any food offerings. Great location on a sunny day in October to watch the sea and the world go by, and we weren't on our own as others also used the outside tables. Service was prompt and efficient. Coffee ok. Liked the use of insulated coffee pots.

Lunch today with my mum. Service was excellent, food was top notch. I had pie my mam had crab salad. The pie was one of the best I have had in a long time. Mam enjoyed the salad. Compliments to the chef and the lovely young man who waited for us.
