Great dog & child friendly pub serving great pub food. All our food was great especially the gourmet burger which was amazing, huge portions too (the dog was happy!)
I go here every week for lunch with my bestie, The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is great, quick service, the chef is very good. I highly recommend the John Paul Jones ❤️
When we first approached the place, we thought it might have been slightly out of our budget (I only saw old menus online). Yes, there is a price increase, but that is to be expected when the menu I saw was from 5 years ago. The "new" prices are about average and reflect the quality of the food. The John Paul Jones is also a dog friendly pub/restaurant, which is good as long as your dog doesn't bark. The service was fair. We waited a while for our food, but one of the staff came over to explain the chef had put mushrooms in one of our dishes when we explicitly said "no mushrooms" so he had to start again. We were kindly offered a complimentary side of chips while we waited. When all said and done, it was a happy visit.
Good menu choice, very busy but staff are excellent
This place has risen again, the quality of the food went downhill earlier in the year but we went last night for the first time in quite a while and have to say the food is back to being five star. Spicy chicken wings were incredible!! The inferno burger was exactly as describe and the Mrs enjoyed her scampi and chips. All washed down with some drinks of which there is a good selection. It was a cosy atmosphere and they had the fire lit which was a welcome sight when we can in from the literal sub-zero temperatures outside. The staff are all good and friendly but this place is absolutely made by George and Shelley, too incredibly welcoming, warm and friendly people. They make all patrons feel special and put their heart and soul into the pub. Highly recommended if you’re visiting The Bay.
Bar staff were all friendly & helpful. Ordered pizza to go and were very happy with the quality/price.
Everyone was cheerful & happy to help when/if required. Other customers also seemed to be enjoying themselves. Overall a good experience 👌
We came to John Paul Jones after our visit to the bay recently. The staff who served us, declan and poppy where both lovely and incredibly fun. They certainly helped to keep us smiling. Our food was delicious both in the evening and at breakfast. I'd definitely recommend it and would visit again.
It was great we got a few different things off the menu , only thing was we had to because there was only one meat on the carvery (beef) which my wife and child dont like . I quickly got rid of my sweetcorn onto my daughters plate but other than that everything tasted lovely. Beef was a little overcooked for my liking but plenty to go at , just could of done with a jug of gravy on the side .very pleasant staff and quick with there service.
The staff here deserve a big shout out for making our experience an enjoyable one. We visited late afternoon with a baby who struggled to settle. A female member of staff went above & beyond to help us and allow us to enjoy our food. Speaking of food, it is very nice. The burgers are tasty and the pasta delicious. If you are staying at The Bay, this place is worth a visit
Dispute COVID restrictions, the pub has friendly staff and a good atmosphere. The food was delicious and the portions was generous. Would highly recommend. The small nachos will feed 4 🤗

Dog friendly, which is handy given the location.
Great on-site Pub at The Bay. I think it is a little pricey but generally it is atmospheric with nice food and a good menu.
