We were staying at sand balls with a group of friends and decided to book lunch. The staff were lovely and left a birthday card on the table and put up a banner. It was my 40th and such a lovely touch. The food was brilliant and service was incredible, keeping us topped up with wine! Would definitely recommend!

We visited The Fighting Cocks pub whilst on holiday down the road at Sandy Balls. Booked online. We're greeted by very welcoming staff. Food took a little while to come out but was well worth the wait... Delicious, hot and absolutely huge portions! Everyone had something different, but highlight was the steak & ale pie. Yum. Thank you, if we come back to Sandy Balls we'll be sure to visit again.

Under new management we thought we'd pop in to see what changes had been made. The team were very friendly and hospitable. Unfortunately for us our favourite cornish beer and cider are no longer on draught (one of the main reasons we personally liked picking this venue.) With that being said they still had a great range of drinks to choose from. Opted for a light bite style lunch, my friend had nachos and I chose the bacon brie baguette. The nachos were big enough for a main course or a snack sharer and the cheese had been layered through the dish. Exactly what you want rather than a bowl of crisps with cheese on top. The bacon brie baguette came out and was more than enough to satiate my hunger. I'll definitely still visit the Fighting cocks, unfortunately maybe not as frequently (because of the rattler.) A definite place to go if you're local/in the area though.

We stayed at Sandy Balls and came here twice in the week. The pub is a few minutes down the road from the holiday park, which was great because unfortunately we had torrential rain for a couple of days so it was convenient that we didn't have to go far. Both visits were excellent. The staff were really friendly and attentive.
I had the venison Ragu both times because it was so good. My Mum had the lamb kofte (special) the first night and the beef brisket the next night. The beef brisket was so tender and just fell apart. The portions were so generous we were too full for dessert 😞 I will definitely visit again.

Went there on holiday for Lunch, and enjoyed it. The Steak and ale suet pie was amazing, but beware it is very filling!!! Selection of beers was not as wide as I would have expected, but ok. Location just on the edge of the New Forest meant a lot of animals being around, great for kids and horsey types.

Nice place to stop for a drink or meal following a walk in the forest! Sunday roast was a generous serving and pretty tasty. Staff were lovely but a couple of the clientele could have done better job controlling their dogs and not staring at strangers!

We often visit here while we’re at our holiday home in Sandy Balls. The food is always good, fast and friendly service too. The kids like to play on the play frame outside and see the donkeys. It is quite pricey, for drinks and food. But the food portions are always large. There is a varied menu, we’ve had plenty of different dishes over the years and never had an issue, it is always tasty.

An amazing location for a pub and sits just before the end of the main road through the forest. Note that animal do roam around the car park. Great drink and food options too, even if you’re travelling past. Food and an alcoholic drink was around £15 each
