Awesome experience 😃. We visited this place with some friends and we all had a great time.
We went for strawberries and gooseberries picking. They have got a plenty of areas for picking for strawberries. For gooseberries place is small but they have got a plenty of plants so you would still be able to pick. Main thing to consider is timing. It is better if you can reach there early. Also better to go when summer starts. There is 1.5 pounds per person entry fee.
They have enough parking space too.
Overall our experience was great and I recommend going there with family and friends 😀.
Pumpkin picking, cakes and coffee: brilliant morning spent at The Balloon Tree. We got there straight after 9:00 when hardly anybody was out yet. Got ourselves a wheelbarrow and onto the field for picking some pumpkins. It's october and an open field, so wellies are recommended. Our daughter had lots of fun walking up and down and choosing the right pumpkins. We changed our shoes back and managed to have a seat in the cafe right before the big wave of guests started arriving. Lovely morning overall, our daughter loved it as well. Recommended to arrive really early as later there were queues for everything, especially the cafe. Friendly staff, nice food and drinks as well
This Farm shop is superb, on the left hand side of the building is a lovely cafe with ample seating area and good for kids and dogs.
On the right hand side of the building is the farm shop with excellent selection of groceries and plenty of top quality meat.
They also sell hot sandwiches and the pork sandwiches are to die for with the crackling, apple sauce and stuffing on you can't go wrong.
Then outside of the farm shop there is a field, during the summer picking berries etc.. then come October time pumpkin time, great place to go with your kid and get them to pick the Halloween pumpkin.
A lovely place with friendly staff and decent prices for the quality of the food etc..
Will be going back to this place.
Stopped off for lunch. The staff were really considerate and found us a table tucked in a corner so my daughter could breastfeed her baby in relative privacy.
We had brie, apple and walnut sandwiches, which were delicious. My son-in-law had a burger and chips.
My daughter had the luxury hot chocolate, which looked like a meal in itself!
Came upon this place by accident, my sat navigation rerouted me off the A64 on the way home. It has a lovely veg shop with a really good choice of veggies, salads and fruit so I ended up stocking up for when I got home. It also sells quiches, pies, coleslaw etc, cheeses, bread, biscuits, gifts and much more. There is a really nice cafe that I have since been back to visit and can vouch for the food which was excellent. They also do a Sunday roast, which I bet is delicious. They also have plants, pots, etc, and do strawberry/berries picking and at the moment, it's pick your own pumpkin 🎃. Some lovely gifts for Haloween too. It's well worth a ride out if you don't live locally, like myself, as it's set in beautiful countryside.
Best farm in York for picing fruit pumpkins! 1.50 to enter..
Strawberries are very nice and sweet
Great fun picking a wide variety of fruits.
A long wait for a table to eat even though lots of empty tables
Been for breakfast and brunch a few times now So very friendly ( including dogs) lovely staff and the food is delicious. Good value too The shop has a great selection of produce and gifts Pricey but you get what you pay for
Went pumpkin picking, been going for years but this year it's now £1.50 per person. Understand that costs need to be covered but a family of 4 is now £6 before you even pick a pumpkin. Love the farmshop though
We visited on a bank holiday and although this place is obviously very popular, after a small wait for a table we were greeted by a very friendly young lad, I think his name was Kes, who deserves recognition as the cafe was very busy and he did everything efficiently with enthusiasm and a smile. We sat outside with a dog and there were plenty of water bowls available. There is a great play area for the kids. We were served by friendly staff and the food came very quickly. All of the food was prepared well, was fresh and very good quality. The farm shop had a great selection of items and fresh local produce. You can also go picking strawberries etc in season. A great experience and well done on such a busy bank holiday.
