Friendly service, big portions!
Definitely recommend the 麻辣拌, which is packed with flavour, the sesame sauce is the highlight, you can get so many different types of veggies and meat in one dish, we all loved it so much! The fish in sauerkraut broth was great, sour and spicy as it should be.
The sweet and sour pork was a bit too hard to eat and a bit too sweet for our liking. The fish spiced aubergine turned out to be sweet and sour style as well which was not what we expected. The dry hot pots are alright but not as good as some other places.
Overall, a great selection, plenty seating and welcoming service.

Everything's so good, authentic north east Chinese style, same as you can find in China, reminder me of my Mum's cooking at home. U got to see the Chinese Manu for authentic food , the English version Manu doesn't cook the same food.
I wish this restaurant could open a branch in Manchester.

Frankly the food is amazingly great compares with other Chinese restaurants. However eating their food makes me sick almost every time, it’s 6am now and I’m dying in the toilet :(

We went here as a family, 4 people. What delicious authentic Chinese food we got. The food was to die for and so so tasty!! It was also unreasonably priced and big portions. I forgot to take photos but 2 of us had chilli squid and fried fish dish. Both of which were excellent. We can't wait to go back to try out the other items on the menu. We sat in the small restaurant and it was lovely. Would also be nice if u were just fetching a take away!

Authentic chinese food, just like back at my home country. Prices are reasonable as well, very friendly staff. Eating in, take away or delivery I have always received my food no problem and always delicious. Only problem is they only accept cash, so I have to get out of my way to carry cash which is very troublesome for someone who is always cashless.

Lovely tasty food, big portions, decent quick service and very reasonably priced. £63 for 2 courses and drinks for 4 of us. Loyalty scheme too with a cumulative 10% off stamp per visit up to half price.

At You Own Risk. My partner and I ordered a vegetarian meal from Chow on Thursday evening as we had many times before.

The meal was promptly delivered, and very tasty. Within five minutes of eating the meal however, I felt very ill and nauseous and had to go to bed. The next morning I was violently sick, and my partner had terrible diarrhoea. We both felt dreadful for the rest of the day.

Early that evening I decided to call Chow, not to complain necessarily but to let them know that something wasn't right, so that they could avoid future issues. I was not prepared for what happened. The man who answered the phone was instantly defensive and said quickly "did you eat something previously?" I said that I didn't understand his question. He then told me that it was probably either my breakfast or lunch that had caused the problems. I was shocked that he was a refusing to even entertain the notion that there could have been a problem with the meal.

We had both eaten our usual separate breakfasts and lunches and the only thing that we had shared had been the meal from Chow. The promptness of his defensiveness leads me to speculate that he fields calls like this regularly. My number was taken and I was told that I would be receiving a call from the manageress to explain why it was probably my breakfast or lunch that had caused our stomach upsets. Needless to say, I have not received a call, and will most certainly never order from, or dine at this restaurant again. I urge you to think twice before ordering from this establishment.

Ordered a takeaway over the phone on a weekday, waited 2hrs, to find the driver had gone to the wrong address even though I'd given a full address (including postcode). Phoned Chows, the offered a £1 credit for wasted time and cold food. So all in all - no idea what the food would have been like - shocking customer service.

The worst Chinese meal we have ever had, better to buy frozen from Iceland as that's how it tasted.

Hadn't been anywhere near Chow for a long time. Saw a Groupon type deal and decided to go for it to check it out again. Was pretty pleased. Service was very good, was getting busy, even for a Sunday night but they were really attentive. We both enjoyed our food (pics added) and left full and happy. Food was well cooked, both mean and bean curd dishes were cooked well and tasted great. Bit unsure given recent reviews but I can't fault anything at all - ok maybe the tiny slightly unclean toilet but no big deal against the delicious food we had. Plan to go back.

Reading the other reviews I'm quite surprised. When I went with a party of four we had shocking service, the fact that we didn't immediately want a drinkn on arrival was shunned at and we felt disdained ever since. It can be summed up in one statement really, my friend was refused a fork and we had to go and help ourselves from a nearby tray. Food was decent though, but still not a pleasant experience.

Nonono!!. I reviewed this restaurant professionally (and negatively).

But on a more personal note - it really was awful.

It was small... VERY small, but I liked that.... until I saw how busy it got and how many people they let stand inside waiting for tables that weren't available and wouldn't be for a long time, and waiting for their takeaways.

The food wasn't your usual chinese. EVERYTHING, and I really mean everything.... tasted of garlic. I ordered a char sui fried rice, and there were 2 small pieces of char sui, the rest was veg and some sort of sauce that didn't go with the dish at all.

The service was dreadful, we had to ask for menus 4 times before we got them, same goes with drinks, food order, etc.

The stairs were VERY steep and small, and the manager, a heavily pregnant woman, was bringing food up and down them constantly, which made me heart jump each time I saw her.

Food, bad. Service, bad.

It's a shame.
