Got to say...get here quick before these landlords leave. Lovely welcome, great food, wonderful service. Totally dog friendly. It will be a loss to the village when they go to enjoy a well deserved retirement. Could you reach the standards these have set!!!!!

We visited at the weekend as we were staying at a campsite close by. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and it is a lovely old style pub. As a family of 4 we had 2 adult meals and 2 childrens meals. The food was lovely and generously portioned and reasonably priced. Definitely would recommend.

We were sure to book ahead for a table of 4 for 5.15 as it was a late Sunday roast we were fully aware that not everything would be available so it was no surprise when we were told that there was only gammon left for the roast option however there was still fish and chips homemade steak pie or vegetable lasagne. We happily opted for 3 gammon roast dinners and a homemade steak pie with mash (you get the choice of which potato you'd like) The food arrived piping hot with plenty of everything and it was so so tasty you could really tell everything was lovingly made from scratch for the roast the potatoes came both roasted and mashed with cauliflower, broccoli and carrot and swede mash. A generous helping of gammon and a large Yorkshire pudding with gravy that was clearly made with the juices as it was so flavourful. The steak pie was brilliant too homemade with large chunks of steak and a choice of potato and whether you'd like the same veg as that with the roast or with peas. This also came with gravy. For dessert there was a choice of either chocolate fudge cake, caramel apple pie or sticky toffee pudding and you had the choice of either cream, ice cream or custard. 2 of us got it with custard and 2 of us got it with ice cream and it wasn't overbearingly sweet it was perfect with a delicious caramel top! We all thoroughly enjoyed all the food and the drinks and service and will be back again one day if we find ourselves holidaying here again

A warm and friendly pub with welcoming and helpful hosts. The locals are friendly and we immediately felt comfortable and part of the community. Great home cooked food and a warm atmosphere no matter the time of day.

Friendly service, lovely and clean. We had food, the garlic mushroom and black pudding starters were so nice. They brought our childrens meal out with the starters which was really nice and my daughter enjoyed her pizza, fries and peas. Our mains were the homemade steak pie and the gammon egg, pineapple and chips. The steak pie was SO GOOD, packed full of meat. My partner enjoyed the gammon egg and chips too, very good portions.

Excellent ale and food. Landlord and landlady friendly and polite. Scampi was lovely and the steak pie was the best I've had in a pub - proper slice of homemade pie with a pastry top and bottom and lots of filling, not done cheap in a ceramic dish!

We booked a table for over the Easter weekend. This is a great, dog friendly pub with welcoming staff and delicious food. The home made streak pie....oh waw! Definitely THE best I've had.

We dined here early one evening recently as a large family group. We had pre booked, so as to make sure we could all be accommodated. Warmly welcomed we chose a variety of dishes, each received a good thumbs up. Certainly worth a look if you are in the area.
