we stumbled across this pub whilst staying at a local caravan park in great yarmouth. We were looking for somewhere that would be showing the football and here we found it. It was very busy, football on, a darts match and a psychic evening in the function room. Even though the staff were busy they were all so friendly, as were the regular customers in the bar. We found them all very welcoming and enjoyed watching the football together. We had bar snacks whilst we were here, my partner had the steak pie and said it was absolutely lovely, I had southern fried chicken, also good and good size portions too. We would definitely return here and highly recommend it.
Three times we have called here for lunch and always there has been nowhere to sit and eat. There is a large room to the right of the pub but it always seems to have some sort of function going on and is closed off. The rest of the pub only has 3 tables which always seem to be in use. Disappointing.
Why do we always find the best place to eat on our last night lol? This place does great pub grub at good prices. The staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel very welcome. All the dishes we ordered were well cooked and tasty
Top notch Sunday carvery . Staff are excellent and very welcoming. Need to book in as always busy. I shall be going most Sunday's .

Well we looked at pubs that were dog friendly so we went Friday evening with our cockapoo and had 2 fantastic meals in the bar. We were made to feel so welcome and our dog luna was fussed over and made to feel so welcome. Today Sunday we returned we didn't book but they fitted us in the bar area for the carvery. We'll it was out of this world I had the beef and husband had the turkey. We had sausage and stuffing about 5 different veg, roast and mash potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and 2 types of grave all homemade. The chef even remembered us from Friday and had a sausage ready for the dog. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We definitely recommend here and we will be back.
Made a phone call at just after 12 to see if we could get in for Carvery, 3.30 was the earliest booking available, but we were starving, young lady on phone suggested we come along as always could be cancellation or we could possibly eat in bar. Parked up got a beer and luckily for us overheard couple turning down table for 2, quick on the uptake asked if we could take it, so 2 it was. All 3 of us were salivating at the plates that were coming out and good sized portions. When it was our turn in we were advised that we could go large for an extra £1, so me and the boy did, eyes bigger than belly springs to mind! Choice of three meats, the 2 large had some of each, and I think we could have served all 3 of us off one plate, which was larger than the standard one, so beef, pork and turkey, plus stuffing and sausage, then help yourself to veg, which there was an abundance of, 2 different gravies, Yorkshire Puds. The small plate had a choice of 2 out of 3 meats, I noticed that the chef always asked if he had given you enough! Well you definitely don’t go hungry, I only just managed to finish mine, my son woofed his down with gusto. We all fancied a pudding, spotted dick and custard my favourite, others available, but just didn’t have any room, so on next visit I will have a standard carvery plus a pudding. Great place for a great family meal and exceptional value. We’ll be back. Thank you for a great meal, pleasant surroundings and good service.

We visited twice during our stay in Yarmouth, wish we’d found it earlier. Food is top notch and priced to suit our family budget. Friendly staff, always had time for a chat. Looking forward to our next visit, thank you.
Just wanted to leave a review after being regulars to The Avenue for a couple of years now for the Sunday Carvery and other pub meals. We visit Great Yarmouth 2 to 3 times a year from Sheffield and absolutely love coming to The Avenue for the Carvery! The real owners are always really friendly and remember us when we come in. The food itself is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I really cannot fault anything I’ve had there as it is probably the best Carvery I have ever tasted! Although we will not be back in Yarmouth now till next year we already can’t wait to come back! Thank you! :)
We went for a meal on Tuesday night as it was our neighbors birthday,didn’t think we would have to book , but you couldn’t get In the door! But was soon found a table and as all ways food was excellent poor Sharon the barmaid should have left off an hour earlier but she was still there ,and as for Colin just don’t know how he does it he’s so calm , we went back last night but we did book this time and once again a lovely meal and lovely atmosphere well done Colin ,jo and Sharon 👍🍷
My partner has been a couple of times with her friends, and she kept saying how good it was.so went for dinner with my daughter and granddaughter today very friendly and lovely food at great price highly recommend.
25 members from our rambling club in Norwich did a walk along Great Yarmouth sea front today. We parked our cars at the Avenue Pub on Beatty Road, ordered our food for lunchtime, and duly left for our walk at 10 am. We walked from the back of the pub to the seafront, along past the boating lake, through the waterways and along the beach side to the Wellington Pier. We came back on the promenade side and returned to the pub just gone noon. The staff at the pub were so friendly and I must specifically thank Helen who took our orders and welcomed us and Colin who I believed cooked the excellent meals. We asked for the food about 12.30 and this was duly delivered. The meals were excellent value, generous portions and superbly cooked. Never having walked from this pub before we were so impressed and are hoping to find another walk so we can eat here again. Oh that all pubs gave us this kind of welcome! Thank you again Helen and Colin and we do hope to see you again before too long.
We visited today especially for the Sunday carvery. The pub is nicely decorated and the lady behind the bar was very friendly and helpful. The carvery was delicious and very reasonably priced. Especially liked the way chef tells you when to go up as it avoided there being a big queue and made the pub seem calmer and more relaxed. The other half rated it as the best Sunday lunch she's had!! Would definitely recommend.
Family of 7 staying at the Seashore caravan park looking for nice local pub food went for Lunch greeted by friendly staff Showed to a table placed our order at the bar our food came out all at same time and was so good we booked for Sunday carvery which was excellent and great value. When we return to the area we will visit again Thanks for a great meal.
Called in as was staying at the local caravan site on holiday, Met upon arrival by lady behind the bar who was polite and showed us where to sit, Good menu to choose from with good choices. Group of 7 of us but food came out together all fresh and tasted great, plenty on offer and good sized portions. Well worth a visit if in the area I always try to find a negative when posting, the only negative I can poost about the Avenue is we don't live close enough
As many others we were staying at the Racecourse CC site and we were recommended The Avenue by the Wardens (thank you). We called in on the Sunday and it seems the last Sunday of the month Cheese and biscuits are put on "lovely touch". Very friendly staff we visited 3/4 times through our stay had some lovely meals, Thursday is curry for two for £10.00 wow very nice, each time we visited we were made to feel very welcome. It really was a bonus to our holiday. I think you will remember us as we were the "The Cumbrian's" who very nearly stayed over night in what seems a very dodgy lay by 10 miles away.... Hope to call again one day...Thank you for looking after us.
Food is great. The staff are superb and seem very happy to be working there. Superb beer garden and very well kept. Recommended.
Turned up on a Monday evening for a meal but sadly found out they don’t serve food that day. We were disappointed but decided to return the following day due to the excellent TA reviews. We were very glad we did. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming. There’s plenty of seating on the right hand side of the pub for food and the bar is on the left so you don’t have to sit around the drinkers. The food was very tasty and the portions were large. Can find no faults. Highly recommended!
