Lovely pub great food even better beer very dog friendly and staff so friendly
Just had the best steak and kidney pie ever washed down with the best kept pint of Theakstons bitter. Definitely be back to this friendly little pub
Stopped to eat on 24th Sept 2023. It was Sunday Carvery. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. No fuss, no bother. Food was everything we had hoped for. Delicious, plentiful and excellent value. We were in fed and out in about 20 minutes. Clearly family run. This family deserve to prosper. Thank-you for your good honesty hospitality.
Took my sons, who are visiting from the USA, for a Sunday roast dinner. They were overjoyed! They ate so much and loved it all. My husband and I liked the vege version as well.
Called in for late afternoon meals, we have a dog 🐕 and motorhome but not a problem, very good food and beer, good service and pleasant staff making us welcome.
We forgot that it was Mothering Sunday (Mother’s Day) and we couldn’t get in anywhere for lunch. By chance we stopped here and they had a table for two. We had the carvery lunch which included generous portions of roast beef, pork, and turkey with Yorkshire pudding, roast and mashed potatoes, veg, and all the trimmings. The whole thing was made even better with the first pint of Theakston that I’d had in years. The food was excellent and the landlord and staff very welcoming. What a find!
Visiting the area and stopped off for dinner. Very warm welcome front the staff, cosy atmosphere and the food was great quality. Excellent portions. Would highly recommend

We came for Sunday lunch and from the welcome, right up to when we left, the service was excellent. We had booked and arrived early and were seated straight away. The Land Lady immediately came over and saw we had a toddler and provided us with a high chair and dinner for our daughter 5 minutes later to keep her happy. The food was excellent and at a great price. Probably the best pub we've been to for a family meal in a long time.
Excellent food, the best steak and kidney pie and fine pint of theakstons
We have just had an amazing family meal which was all cooked to perfection, the staff were very welcoming and prompt with their service. Excellent value for money, good quality meat and a lovely pint of Timothy Taylor landlord, we will definitely be back and would highly recommend, thank you ☺️
Staying locally we thought we would try the Half Moon Inn as recommended..
My pie was exceptional , meaty and full of flavour, gravy one of the nicest I've had in a pie , chips were flavoursome and veg cooked well.
Service was great , friendly, speedy and professional , faultless..
The reason it's a 4 not a 5 is because I don't think a dog should be allowed in the eating area especially one that begs for food and if ignored sits there tapping your leg. Is a lovely old dog and I love dogs , have my own but do have areas dogs shouldn't be.
Thank you....
Lovely carvery in a really nice place. Service excellent and very good price
