Love coming here for family meals. Food always tastes amazing and hot and is so filling. Most recent visit was Friday 5th and it was really busy, busier than we've ever seen before, and there was quite a wait for the food (50 minutes). The carrots were quite undercooked (for everyone), and my custard was very runny for my dessert, and my cokes were both flat, but it was still absolutely amazing and I INHALED all of it. Cosy vibes but the fire can make it smell quite unpleasant which you don't want when you're eating. Staff super friendly and welcoming!
This place is about as authentic as you can get for a traditional country pub. The whole place oozes character and has a relaxing, homely atmosphere. The location is great, with several reservoir walks nearby. There's ample parking outside, along with a beer garden and a few benches. Inside, lighting is quite low and natural. Most walls are stone and characterful. There are a few open fires dotted around the rooms. There's a pool table in one room. Service was friendly and welcoming. We ordered at the bar, where there was an option to tip on the payment console. The food was good, kind of cheap and cheerful based on what we ordered (scampi, burger, chips). I have visited before, and do know the homemade dishes are very good. Other reviewers have highlighted this. I'll happily be returning.
Went for a lovely meal. Had steak pie and chips with veg. Absolutely lovely. The staff were kind and the prices were very reasonable. Talk about a proper genuine country pub!
