A cozy friendly pub that has delicious dishes at reasonable prices. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and it is a very relaxing environment whether you are there just for a drink or for a meal. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for, and my husband can't stop talking about how amazing and full the chicken, ham and leek pie was. We will definitely return again when in the area.

Visited for lunch after a walk round Fewston reservoir. Plenty of parking. Pub is large and well decorated / furnished. Staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Guinness was good. Stake sandwich was excellent and great value for money. The dog enjoyed drying by the fire. Will definitely pop in again, next time we’re passing.

Lovely place to call for Sunday lunch and very popular. Staff were really friendly and helpful, food was delicious and the pub had a comfortable warm feel with great views over open countryside. Children are welcome and staff are very accommodating. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of the meals. Definitely worth a visit, booking recommended at busy times.

Having passed this place every day for work, I'd thought we'd give it a whirl....was not disappointed, excellent menu, superb quality and portion size, we had 2 courses each from the new festive menu, I had booked online earlier in the day ...a credit card was needed to hold the table (personally I think all places should do this, having worked in hotels for half my life and getting annoyed at 'no shows'). I would definitely recommend here to anyone, we had a lovely evening, many thanks to all front and back of house staff ❤️

Fantastic pub! We called in on a whim on our way back to York, it was very busy but we were seated right away. Good menu that is small but interesting, prices are on the higher side but completely worth it when the quality matches. I’m not usually a dessert eater but the Black Forest arctic slice was divine! Decor is tasteful, terrace was nice for a drink. We’ll definitely call again.

The first contact didn't start well. From making an online booking to turning up at the restaurant, I received 4 emails and was unexpectedly charged £10 in advance. This was later taken off the bill. After that, the experience was near faultless. It has beautiful views of open countryside from the back. The interior is tastefully decorated and has a great, warm atmosphere. Some of the tables enjoy the beautiful views. The menu was nicely balanced, with a good variety of dishes. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free are marked on the menu. Service was top notch, polite, professional, and efficient, throughout the meal. The food was of a really good standard, nicely cooked, seasoned, and presented. We thought the portion sizes were about right. We'll happily be making a return.

Arrived at 6.45 on a Sunday evening (we booked). Waited at the bar whilst 1 other person was served before us. In that time whilst we stood there some drinks tickets came through, the bar man then started making them drinks instead of greeting or serving us even though we had been stood there a fair few minutes and weren't even acknowledged. Once seated service was slow to take our order considering it was very quiet. Food was excellent 👌 10/10 in the chefing department. We had all 3 courses. Lovely waitress who took over looking after us and she could not be faulted! Would definitely go back and just hope for better service.
