This is our go to place when we crave for South Indian food. We love the vada sambar and I think this is one of the best sambars I have ever had. Our other favourites are Ghee Masala dosa, rava masala dosa, paneer chilli, gobi 65 amongst many others. I totally recommend this place and will keep visiting again and again.
This bright Saravanaa Bhavan outlet is a short walk from the Rayner's lane Tube station and offers great Indian classics such as this pictured Paneer Jalfrezi. Delicious!
Similar to other Saravana bhavans elsewhere. Good south Indian food. Avoid ordering north Indian as they 'South Indianize' that too although taste is ok!
You might get 'rasam' for soup in north Indian thali!
Overall good. Staff are friendly. BGM is pukka local! :D
Saravana Bhavan is extremely popular and they always have waiting queues after 5:30pm on the weekends. Every time I go, the quality is different and I think it depends on how bothered the staff are with their jobs- its shocking! Sometimes the dosas are not at all crispy and white whereas other times they are amazing (brown and crispy). I think you need to specifically mention to the staff several times about having a crispy dosa to make sure you get a nice one when ordering. I always have a masala dosa. The portion sizes are great except for the disappointing rava dosa one during my last visit. I love the chutnies - especially the coconut and orange one! Overall, a nice place with awesome flavours.
One of my favourite restaurants.. South Indian classics, with a consistent taste each time I visit. All in all, a place you definitely wanna visit if you're craving for some homestyled Indian food!
Went 4 times, good service, good in handling crowd.
Taste of traditional South Indian items are good. Crowded most of the evenings.
Be ready to wait for 10-20 to get a table on peak hours
This is our favourite South Indian place in london. No matter what day you go, there will always be a waiting, however the service is so quick that you will be sitted in not more than 15 minutes. Inspite of the long queues of people waiting, the servers are always pleasant, never in a rush and never cringe when you ask for that extra 'chutney'. My absolutely favourite place and not even expensive!
One of my favourite places. cheap and great quality food! the service is also quick!
one of my fav veggie place i love going to as the food and service is amazing 5 would be to less for rating so it had to be done
Sarvanna Bhavan is a well known brand, and is known for it's South Indian cusine. At Rayners Lane, I along with my friend had orderd for Dosa, Uttapum, and Idli. The waiter had memorized our order (Note: He had not noted it down anywhere).
After a while, we were served with Dosa and Idli, but as we say ' To err is Human'.. We missed out on the Uttapum, till the end, until we reminded our order once again. However, the experience was good and the food was good enough to fill our appetites.
Food: The food is very good here, admittedly I was skeptical when I first was told that I was going to a vegetarian restaurant but I was wrong to be as we ordered the okra, dosa and some other items and they all were good choices! I had this poori with chickpeas and it was very impressive.
Service: This was one part which was really good and the service was flexible in terms of when the food came and the people serving our table were attentive.
Atmosphere: Electric. For a Tuesday evening, it was buzzing with customers when we went.
Good quality service and quality atmosphere. But the food did not taste as good as the other Saravanaa Bhavan restaurants.

Great food and it’s the South Indian food as usual. Absolutely we can’t expect the Saravana Bhavan taste from back home, however it’s almost matching which is good. Service average, with the staff looking unenthusiastic most of the time. Also many times we experienced the waiting time as huge..which they can avoid through booking system. However we had a great time as the food was always as usual amazing.
Always come for dosa which comes out banging. Staff will always top up sauces when asked. Tried the crispy bhindi for once and was not a fan, very very heavy on the batter and lack of flavour. Will just stick to my dosa next time.
Good food choices ( too many). Everything we ordered (vada sambhar, matha, chana bhatura, falooda) was delicious except tea, which was over boiled bitter and tasted more of milk than masala. Sambar vada came without chutney but you can ask for it. Chana bhatura came with very little chola but again you can ask for more. The staff is very helpful. The place is clean and has a great atmosphere, I felt I was in India:)
Very busy dosa house. Plenty of seating. Food was good. Reasonably priced. Service was good. But expect a bit of a wait if it’s very busy.
The food is always tasty and everyone leaves happy~
Dosas are my favourite Indian dish, but my friend also introduced me to baturas here and I've loved them since. It's worth travelling for, especially since the meal is much cheaper than what I'd get in Central London. I've also had the opportunity to try new Indian desserts that I wouldn't have known about otherwise!
The last time I went, I was still thinking about it for a week~!
Amazing food and friendly staff as always. Ankit provided us with a fab service and recommended to try out their North Indian thaali which was delicious.
The best of the sarvanaa Bhavan chains in London
Don't bother going to the one at Leicester Square, it's terrible. The one in Wembley isn't too bad but quite a dated decor and not as friendly staff.
This one is perfect. But far off but worth it .
Perfectly cooked dosa !
Remarkable culinary delights, exceptional food with best service and more importantly, the cheapest ever.
I have been here 5 years before once and instantly fell in love. How on earth this gets low rating by some people I still don't get it.
This restaurant has set a high standard in the realm of vegetarian dinning. The commitment to excellence demonstration by your team has undoubtedly made a lasting impression.
Don't go for dosa to anywhere else. I travel from canary wharf to have dosas here !
