It's a 10/10 on food.
When we lived in Haywards Heath, it was our local and we loved it so much. We emigrated to Australia and when we came back to visit, we took a day trip down to Haywards Heath from London specifically to go to China Brasserie.
The previous owners were so friendly! They knew my parents well and would give them a complimentary bottle of wine on their wedding anniversary as they'd go there every year. When the newer owners took over, they were polite but didn't have that same warmth.
The atmosphere lacks because as someone dining in, you almost feel as though you have to be quiet, like you're in a library.
The staff are very polite though, great service and phenomenal food.
I'd argue the best Chinese in the whole of the South of England.
I liked the decor though I felt the table cloth and napkins arrangement was quite old fashioned. The manager came across as slightly aggressive I felt and as expected in a Chinese restaurant, the service was very fast (too fast for my liking but that's just how it is).
The food was tasty though I felt the portions were small. I guess that's why they give you free prawn crackers with a couple of dips ;)
I would've preferred a dinner plate to put my food on though I guess the bowl is more authentic.
All in all, I think food wise, this place has made big strides over the years and for that, it's to be commended.
Food is fantastic - everything seems to be fresh, juicy and simply delicious
Even on Sat waiting time was about 45 min - very good - we ordered from them so many times and we have never been disappointed so if you want to treat yourself to a nice chinese - The China Brasserie is the one.
