Alley Katsu

This charming gem is an oasis of tranquility in a sea of sameness. Its cozy, intimate atmosphere is a refreshing departure from the dining scene in this part of the country. The restaurant excels at doing what it does – offering a well-executed menu that stands out. If you're used to places where restaurants have character and unique offerings, and you've found Hertfordshire's dining to be a bit too uniform, this spot is an absolute must-visit.

My partner and I came here for dinner tonight and loved it. Although the menu doesn't state what items contains Gluten the Gent who served us walked me through the menu of all the things I could eat which excellent! really lovely atmosphere - good tunes on too! I wish I lived closer so I could come back again!

I had a 5 pm dinner with my two primary aged children and then a later dinner with a friend recently (different days) Both experiences were five star. Every visit to this restaurant has be excellent. Food options are clear, potions are good value and the drinks range is great. My kids liked the fact they could see the drinks clearly displayed to order. Everything was spotless. Will be going again.

The best restaurant in Hertford. Fresh and tasty vegan options, great variety and complex, mouth-watering flavours. Staff friendly, helpful and efficient, making you feel right at home. Atmosphere calm and tasteful, perfect for a meal with friends or family. I wish I had know about the place earlier, but will be a regular from now on!

We ordered takeaway and the food was awesome. The restaurant started preparing the food as soon as it opened, and the food was dispatched fairly quickly. The sashimi was fresh and tasted amazing. The katsu curry was super good and a huge portion! The seaweed salad was really nice and it came with a sauce as well. Will order again.

The food was great, served hot, served quickly, and with impeccable presentation. Prices very reasonable and great portion sizes. Clearly using good quality ingredients. Comfortable, approachable atmosphere. Only thing I would say is that it wasn't immediately pointed out to us that although there is a small menu of the daily staples (which were lovely), you really need to turn your eyes to one of the chalk boards to see what's on offer today. It's only a niggle, and once we knew we loved that home made and interesting approach, but I think most people like to know what they're meant to be doing at the start. I'd hate to have missed out on what was on the board purely because I didn't know to look! That said, we intend to return and will know about this quirk next time!
