Lovely food and pleasant atmosphere. Apart from one (minor) wrong order the only downside is that its a bit pricey - there's better value dining of similar quality elsewhere, but it was still an enjoyable experience.

This is beautiful restaurant with a lovely setting. Menu is varied and interesting with a substantial wine list. However we felt both the food and service were average and we left feeling underwhelmed.

Fabulous evening out to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We sat upstairs and the staff perfectly hit the balance between attentiveness and allowing us space to enjoy our meal. Both the young man with the fascinating tattoo and his female colleague were fabulous, friendly yet professional. The food was fabulous. This is my new favourite restaurant and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Nice meal can be expensive at £75 for two for lunch without any alcohol drinks. Another place that add 10% to the bill. French onion soup could of been better, main course (Lamb) was good.

We were a party of 7 overall the food was excellent, however my brother and I both had the most expensive steak on the menu, Ribeye, both were fatty and chewed!! Not what you expect for nearly £26 each.

The restaurant was excellent. Very good staff who were knowledgeable and attentive. The food was wonderful. Well presented and delicious so it was as good to look at as it was to eat. The wine menu was delightful although we were not adventurous in our selection. We ordered a la carte although the fixed price menus present excellent value for money. I would recommend this restaurant and I look forward to visiting again as soon as I can.

Love Bouchon! Food is consistently top quality, service excellent and atmosphere fab, especially now with the outside terrace area, so relaxing and peaceful in the evening sun.

Good food, good service and a relaxing environment with French style. We had a great evening and chose from the a la carte menu. The early evening/lunch menu looked great also. Drinks were good as were the appetisers with the aperitifs.

This lovely restaurant has been a favourite of ours for over ten years. We always book in for lunch when we're passing through Hexham. If we're staying overnight, dinner is a must-have treat! The set lunch menu is always excellent: classic French dishes at their simple and unfussy best.

Nice meal but probably won’t return. Duck confit beautiful, wonderful cheese board selection but rather bland cassoulet, no depth of flavour for a dish cooked for a long period. The meat tasted wonderful but the bean base was not flavoured by the meat. Service somewhat cold and unwelcoming by the head waiter but the waitress was lovely. For a birthday celebration (that wasn’t acknowledged) a little disappointing.

I finally found a place that does amazing food and at a reasonable price Driving from York was worth the effort. I wish there was somewhere nearer that was close to this level of dining, but nowhere in York comes close. The escargot was cooked just right, the main meal was better than expected, I had the absolute best espresso martini I've ever had, and the molten chocolate cake was the right temperature. The only reason this was not a five star experience is because our servers forgot about us several times during our dining experience to chat to other patrons they seemed to know. They also forgot to bring small requested items, such as an extra fork, butter for the bread, and still water. Food was 5 stars. Service was 3.5 stars. 100% would return for the food.

Excellent French bistro tucked away in Hexham. There's a lovely relaxed atmosphere generated by the decor and the lovely staff. Food is fantastic. The early bird set menu is top class and well worth the trip during the week.

When we arrived, the downstairs restaurant was full of earlybirds. For £15.50, they were enjoying terrine, steak frites and crème caramel. It was like stepping into a bar in Calais.

Bouchon is probably most famous from it’s appearance on Gordon Ramsay’s The F Word where it won “Best French Local Restaurant", an award that you can’t miss as you enter. It might have been a few years ago now but who wouldn’t shout about such a well-known accolade? We visit on dreary Autumn monday afternoon, but the restaurant is near full for lunch - not surprising with a an excellent value lunch menu offering 2/3 courses for £12.50/£13.95. Changing just about frequently enough, the menu is typical French fare, with uncomplica
