I hadn't been to a Merrie England coffee shop for a number of years, but I was pleasantly surprised last week when I revisited the one situated in Kirkgate In Huddersfield town centre. Nice helpful and welcoming staff, and delicious toasted hot beef and onion sandwiches. Well worth a visit.

Apart from McDonalds it was the only place at 7:30am I found open . Pleasantly surprised at quality of food. Coffee beans replenished whilst I was waiting to be served by Grumpy Mule Beans (a Huddersfield Locala coffee company - free trade too)

The best coffee house in town. Their bakery counter is full of favorites and the service is great with friendly helpful staff. Lovely old world charm. I will never forget the first time I popped in for a break during shopping. I had a delicious apple pie with tea. Prices are decent too.
