Had a lovely lunch, really tasty food and a fabulous gin/local beer menu too. Kids food was also good with a little more on offer than the bog standard burger/pizza and chips. The atmosphere was smart casual and the service was faultless. Would recommend as a tourist stop or an upmarket pub night out.
Attended a small private gathering here recently. This was in a pleasant rear room where a simple but tasty buffet was laid out. Hot drinks were available on the bar and service of drinks from the bar was swift and attentive. They looked after us well.
We joined the New Inn for a 'taste of Britain' (four courses with wines matched to each course) event as part of the Hurstpierpoint festival.
The room assigned to the event was a little too small and cramped for my liking - a thought echoed by at least a few other diners. There was also quite a lot of noise that came from the bar area and other side of the bar which made it difficult to hear what we were being told about the wine and the food at times.
Those fairly minor points aside, the food was tasty, and delicious and paired well with the tipples selected to go with the food. It was also excellently presented.
I won't lie, I was slightly sceptical and worried about the menu (please see one of the pictures for the full menu and descriptions) as I wouldn't ever normally choose most of the dishes on it, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed each of them. On top of that, there was a surprise additional final course of doughnuts with strawberry and elderflower jam which were sublime!
All in all we enjoyed our night, we had some fun conversations and an enjoyable time, so I'd definitely consider a similar event again in the future.
