This is the best pub in Ilfracombe in my book. My fiance and I discovered it on the 24th March 2017, while on a trip to Ilfracombe to visit our wedding venue. We then booked it for the night before our wedding, as the place for all of our friends and family to meet before the big day. John and his team really did us proud, even though we were late, and they made sure that everyone had a truly enjoyable night, full of memories to be remembered for a long time to come. We popped back, the evening after the wedding, and John made a point of coming over and congratulating us.

Nice friendly pub. Had already had dinner when we got here but food looked and smelt good and judging by the empty plates of other customers must have tasted good too. I did have a dessert though � And very nice it was too
Quick service. Jon has been serving food at the George for a while and his food is always top notch. It is a family run, dog friendly business right in the heart of fore Street. I come to the George every time I come down to Ilfracombe and never regret it when I do. The prices are also good. The pub is a lovely old fashioned pub run by great people
Lovely local pub, very friendly atmosphere. Very dog friendly. Although we did not eat here, the meals we saw being served all looked very good.
A good selection of drinks are available.

Reason for not allocating 5 stars on this review, is the comfort of the seats. They are either hard wood with no cushions or very upright settee style seating with hardly any padding at all. So not comfortable for lengthy stays.
Very dog friendly. We ordered lasagne and a jacket potato with cheese and beans and both were tasty and very hot. The beer was well kept and was very tasty and the wine was of good quality. They even bought out dogs a bowl of water.
Lovely pub, great atmosphere and fab quiz on a Tues night, gets busy so book a table.
Best garlic bread with cheese, definitely recommend
Food is freshly cooked which can take up to half an hour but is well worth it. Gasto pub atmosphere, you can't go wrong.
Great pub food, plus exceptional food on Specials chalk board. Wonderful old pub with great atmosphere.

The food was good and decent value. The only reason it didn't get a 5 star from me is because they don't do real chips.
