After a day of hiking, Instow Arms beckoned to us as an oasis on our way back. Even though the pub was full, we were offered a snug spot near the entrance. This seating offered us the delightful privilege of watching a beautiful sunset.
Culinary-wise, the mussels were an absolute treat, and opting to switch out the fries for garlic bread proved to be an excellent choice.
They serve non-alcoholic Guinness beer.
Off-chance lunch, very nice place, food delicious and arrived quickly, piping hot too. Dog friendly.
Excellent all around. There's sturdy covered outside seating for all year around, plenty of dog bowls, fast service, polite and knowledgeable staff, adaptable and out of this world food. What more could you ever want!
One of the best places in the around, staff are always welcoming and friendly no matter how busy they are. Food is excellent and very fresh. I always make a point of coming here when I visit the area.
Even though it was very busy, sitting outside gave you the feeling of having plenty of space to yourselves. We had a group of 12 with us, and the service was quick and efficient. The food was lovely, the portions were huge.
Will definitely make another trip.
Although initially I thought the prices were higher the enormous portions of lovely food more than justify it. We all left very happy and full!
This place is fabulous! Situated right on the beach, but with shelter from the glass around the patio area, you don't get blown to bits, but if you were a bit chilly, they had cosy looking blankets in the doorway to warm you up a bit!
Had the most AMAZING meal tonight from the specials board, cod loin with a chorizo & herb crumb, new potatoes with rosemary and garlic and a pile of lovely veg.
My husband had traditional fish 'n' chips, which was also delicious, but he also had a side order of food envy!!!! 😂😋
Staff are attentive, friendly and welcoming...they also had a great selection of drinks, I had "Pull the Pin" a locally produced spiced rum, from Woolacombe (yum)
This pub/restaurant is lovely and well worth paying them a visit.
We stayed just outside Instow last week, visiting the Instow Arms twice. Day 1 was after a decent dog run up and down the beach, sufficient to order from the “large plate” menu (forgetting the generous portions again!). Day two was an escape from Storm Ciaran, and smaller plates plus pudding. Fantastic food, great service, genuinely welcoming of wet dog. What more can you want.
Great food and fantastic service, very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Also fabulous view.
This is a great pub, very popular with locals like myself and tourists alike. Even on a busy night, you can always find a table outside, loads of room round the back. Although if you can get a seat at the front it's the perfect spot to watch the sunset. I go here with my cycling club, about 20 of us once a year.....hence the 4* for atmosphere.....lots of dirty looks from people when we arrive, lowering the tone with our lycra! Luckily, we don't care, and judging by the many cycle racks, the owners welcome us warmly. shame some folk in Instow are snooty!
