We often eat here, both midweek and weekends; Sunday lunches are excellent and very filling (We always order a small meal), staff always really friendly and helpful. A great place! Thank you.

My husband took me out for dinner and it was really lovely. The setting and atmosphere was good. Very clean and good staff. We managed to have the set menu, although it wasn’t the right time for it. Just beware, the bottled water on the table is not complimentary. Overall, a really nice experience, not rushed and comfortable. Would def go again.

My wife and I took my mother for her 80th birthday. My mother was so impressed. Trust me she is not easily pleased. We all enjoyed our food. Love the fact it is very spacious, you are not squashed in. Price was fair. The restaurant looked lovely. No pressure to get out quickly. Highly recommended.

The Chequers is a former pub with a decent sized car park. The exterior blends unassumingly into the local area. The delightful smell of caramelised onion, capsicum and spices permeates the air before you enter. The interior decor is very visually interesting, but more importantly has been very well designed and laid out with careful use soft furnishings that balance the acoustics from hard surfaces. This creates a relaxing dining area with a pleasant ambience from other diners. The food is very good, extra effort is put into the chef's signature dishes that sets the chequers apart from other Indian restaurants. I tried the Tawa, Karahi and cashew Murgh. The Tawa was exceptional, with a delightful mix spices blended carefully with the uplifting tangy flavour of tamarind. The Karahi was also excellent with a deep and rich blend of spices and capsicum. Both the Tawa and Karahi had been further reduced on a skillet to intensify the flavours. The cashew Murgh made use of local honey as an ingredient, which provided a pleasant sweetness to the dish. All three dishes were very distinct and enjoyed with a peshawari and keema naan.

Had a great evening here with my brother. We ordered plenty of food and wanted to try a little of everything. I informed the waiter I normally have a dhansak, but wanted to try something new. So the chef recommended a new specialty for me with similar sweet & spicy flavours. I would say the only thing that wasn't the best was the chicken pakoras, which were more like breaded chicken dippers. Apart from that everything was spot on. Very good and attentive staff. The converted pub has had a very high quality interior decor. Complimentary brandy after the meal was very nice too. Will definitely return with the family.

We have ordered take away 3 times now from the Chequers and every time the food has been spot on. It is easily our favourite Indian restaurant now. The delivery drivers have always been on time and really friendly. If you want a decent Indian takeaway look no further.
