Really lovely pub to visit! Great selection of ales and beers and excellent wines which can be hard to find in many pubs! The staff make you feel comfortable and welcomed! Superb views from the outside beer garden! Love the inside fire place and the open fire is especially welcomed! Great pub! Will be dining there soon!]

We have just got home from a perfect 2 night break staying in the Cartmel Fell Suite. Jason, the team & pub dog, Bess, were all on hand to greet us & ensure we had everything we needed & more during our stay. The room was lovely- ideal for the dogs as we have our own garden. Lovely walks straight from the front door. We ate at the pub both nights & enjoyed everything that was served. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks guys!

I booked a 2 night stay in the strawberry bank suite to celebrate my partners birthday. We received a lovely warm welcome by all staff, especially manager Jason who was very attentive and friendly. Drinks and food superb with large portions and service great. Very pleased with our room, large bath and tea and coffee facilities. Gorgeous decor. Unfortunately we couldn’t bring along our dog this time because we had a spa day booked the next day, but we especially love how dog friendly the Inn is and will definitely be back with our dog soon. The large heated patio area is great if you want to sit outside in the evening and the views are incredible. Lovely traditional open fire and full english breakfast. Lovely little getaway!

In a lovely position with excellent views. Food was OK , service was limited you have to go to the bar to order your food and collect your own cutlery. The staff were fine , more business like than warm. It seemed a busy pub, but the service was quick. Outside there was large parasols, with very good heaters, to keep you warm when the sun went down. Worth a visit.

We found this little gem of a pub after looking online for pubs that do the best roasts, well we can certainly say we were not disappointed! The food was amazing, I had the roast chicken which was juicy and tender and covered in tasty herbs and my partner had the roast beef which was lovely and soft. This was honestly one of the best roasts I have ever had, great portion size, Yorkshire puddings were huge and lovely and fluffy, crispy roast potatoes, thick gravy and plenty of vegetables and cauliflower cheese for sides. The pub interior was lovely and cosy and service was very fast and the pub staff very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come back here!

I’m not sure if the pub has changed hands recently but the menu was not as complete as it always was and the orders where a little hit and miss but got there in the end. Despite the more basic menu choices, the food was good, whereas it had always been exceptional. Nevertheless, the pub is a beautiful venue in a stunning location, and if there are new owners, I wish them every success. Perhaps they just need a little time to develop their own offering there.

We stayed in Strawberry Bank suite for our anniversary and were delighted with how cosy and quirky the room is. We had a private entrance and it was very quiet - no noise from the bar. There was a patio area which was too cold to use on this occasion, however there was a little seating area separate to the bedroom where we sat and shared champagne once our baby was asleep!! The feature bath in the bedroom made it a very special and unique experience, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, we didn't mind ordering it the evening before. We would definitely love to spend time here again.

I've been coming to masons for the best part of 30 years now. The food is not what it used to be (albeit still slightly above average) but not for the price paid. Service has always been good and the drinks offering is solid too. There are nicer places to eat close by but few can compete with the views.

A lovely spot a short trip away from Lake windermere. Very dog friendly, but bear in mind it means there will be plenty of other dogs! The service, drink, and food were all great. It can get very busy due to its excellent reputation, but a must if you're visiting the area.
