We loved our time at Olives, the food is lovely, lots of seafood, fish, yummy humus, the best seafood linguine I’ve had in a long time (it’s huge and packed with prawns, scallops, mussels, squid; but best of all is their welcome for dog owners and their pets. Layla in particular made us all
So welcome, she’s a wonderful asset, bringing a blanket for my boy to sit on at our table, doggy treats and generally being super welcoming and kind. Why can’t all restaurants be like this? We went on a number of evenings over our visit, sometimes for a drink (fabulous Pimms) sometimes for dinner. Olives is a welcome new addition to Cawsands/Kingsands and well worth a visit. ❤️😀
On a sunny September afternoon we finally tried this place after saying we were going to on numerous occasions. I’m so glad we did. We ordered olives, hummus, halloumi and whitebait to graze on with a couple of beers while we sat outside looking out to sea and hearing the waves lapping onto the beach. Very chilled afternoon with locals and visitors coming and going both to Olives and to The Devonport just along The Cleave. The food we had was good, as was the service. Highly recommended.
I am reluctant to write a good review because I want this place to stay a little secret and be able to eat there without having to book 4 months in advance. It is such a small place with few tables. Once it is known it will be hard to eat there. Even the local say “ aww yes the tapas place that just opened ?". This is no tapas place. Let me tell you . This is one of the best meal I had for a long time. Everything we ate was cooked to perfection. This chef understand flavours and cooking. The setting is just so perfect too. What a find. I congratulated the chef but that guy seemed so humble and even embarrassed to get a compliment. The only down side with the menu is that they don’t have desserts. It is often that some chefs are really good at cooking but shy away from making desserts. I am sure that guy can do anything . They should have simple desserts like crumble with Cornish ice cream. 2 or three very simple desserts would be better than none. The other little improvement would be to serve finger bowl or freshener with the mussels. I can’t take a star off because everything else was just too perfect. Eat there before it is too late.
Recently reopened, and, if they can maintain the quality of food we had last night, they should be very successful. While it has more cafe ambience than restaurant, the quality of food exceeded many restaurants I have recently visited. One can have conventional starter and main (no desserts on offer at the moment), or an array of tasty small platters. The Korean fried squid and scallops were particularly delicious! Lovely location on the seafront . Dog friendly. Very welcoming. Good wine list.
We got married at Polhawn Fort on 4th May. The following day we wanted a venue for breakfast and I can honestly say the Olives was fantastic. We preordered as we had 16 people attending. The food was delicious, we had a personal service that was friendly and very accommodating. Thank you so much!
Came across this place accidentally and decided to have some lunch. 8 of us unplanned and they accommodated us with no problem. 2 bottles of wine later accompanied by some wonderful food we would all recommend coming here.
The best café we've been to in Cornwall. Great food and value for money. Lovely friendly staff
Absolutely loved this place, stopped here for lunch while walking the coast path. Food was great 👍 and with a lovely view over the sea.
I suspect it will be hard to get a table at Olives very soon. We had a lovely supper, and came back for breakfast the next day.
Beautiful location by the sea front in Kingsand. Friendly staff. Food was delicious! Thanks
