We recently had our wedding here in January, and from booking it in 2020 right up until the day I can't complain with the amount of help we have had from Suzanne, and if she wasn't in to reply to my emails then Jackie would make sure to. Nothing was ever too much bother for them even with the amount of changes we had to make in the few weeks before the big day. The day went as smoothly as we could have wanted and it was perfect from start to finish, the food was beautiful and the staff were also amazing all day. I'm so glad we made the choice to have our wedding here, and if anyone else is considering them then please do! And I won't hesitate to recommend to anyone looking. From us both, thank you to Suzanne, Jackie, Paul, and all the staff for the most incredible day.

I stay her for a few days each month as I travel for my job. Mostly I'm on my own. The staff really take care of me and make me feel so welcome! They are friendly, professional and know my requirements. Food and the cleanliness is good. The grounds are spectacular! I would highly recommend staying here for work or leisure.

We had the pleasure of staying for 9 nights due to a delay with our new home. Menu is fantastic for meals, staff are welcoming and kind. We had two different rooms, the second of which had a great jacuzzi bath. Only downside was a noise that we could hear 24/7 which disturbed my sleep, but we were told it was to do with the central heating so it's unlikely to go away. I popped in some ear plugs and slept much better. Complimentary fruit and biscuits were replaced daily oh and the lindt chocolates! Would definitely stay again.

My dad just had his wedding here and thoroughly enjoyed his day there and was full of praise for the staff. Lovely little venue. The garden patio was especially nice to sit and relax as the day we were there was quiet and good weather. Saw a red squirrel! Enjoyed the food on the day, which was pate, followed by a roast dinner, then cheesecake. Staff were all very pleasant. I'd definitely book here to relax on that patio and use it as a base to visit Yarm, if I came again. Can't comment on bedrooms as we didn't stay, on this occasion, but grounds, loos, function room we used and bar area etc were all very nicely inkeeping with the country house style, though there are some bits of carpet and furnishings that looked a bit tired and mismatched. Especially the lounge room where we had the ceremony. Feel it could be done nicer. Not sure I liked sitting on a sofa for ceremony. Don't know if that was down to my dad, or the venue 😆 Glass of gin and tonic was over £8. Rooms quite expensive too. We thought about stopping until we saw the price, and unlike other wedding venues they offered no discount to wedding party guests. Seems a bit silly as was so quiet, you'd think they'd rather offer a small discount and fill a room than not have anyone at all.

Came here as a couple for a friend’s wedding. Fantastic day and the hotel did all they could to make the day work how they wanted it. Great space for wedding reception including a good size dance floor. Reasonably priced drinks and decent wines. Rooms were the perfect combination of rustic old country house and modern, clean facilities.

Got married and spent my wedding night here. Everything was fantastic, the events organisers were firs rate and all the staff were excellent. Set in beautiful grounds with a delightful old world atmosphere to it.

Had afternoon tea here this afternoon. It was absolutely delicious. Sadly it will be the last time we visit as it is closed now. A property developer has bought the house and grounds x

Great bathroom, room is big, but no opening window so claustrophobic and warm. Needs some form of information booklet/laminate. Details of breakfast times, checkout etc. No bar menu offered so no idea of what is on offer. Food is OK, a bit bland and uninteresting for a small menu. Chicken ballatine was very cold, needed to be out of the fridge a little, tempura prawns had little coating. Didn't like smoked mashed potatoes, personal choice but too much. Food is well cooked just not the standard expected. Breakfast was great. Staff very helpful . Just needs some oomph!

Went for afternoon tea - loved it - placed in front of the fire which was warm but not hot - served promptly although forgot the sarnies until we'd started eating - food delicious and plenty - staff brilliant they didn't pester us but were there when you needed them - all in all a lovely afternoon spent relaxing and chilling topped off by snowfall

Firstly, this is a lovely hotel, great rooms, staff are (mostly) very friendly. You are greeted on arrival and given a tour. Free fruit and sherry in your room with the usual tea and coffee selection. Mini bar provided, well stocked. The hotel bar is good, rooms are nice, staff attentive. But breakfast is another matter. Very slow, and it feels like your presence is an annoyance to the staff on duty who prefer to huddle together and not engage with customers. My breakfast was congealed, and not overly nice, like it had been sat around for ages, but I'd waited 25 minutes for it. At £18.50 for a cooked breakfast this is not good. In summary, awesome hotel, but dont have breakfast!!
