Great as always!!
Went there as I was coming for the first time in the UK. Three years later, in 2024 I went there again. Believe it or not it was one of the places I did remembered from my last trip. The taste was as great as the last time and the sauce he uses.... Don't know how he makes it but I just couldn't get enough of it!!

Fish and chip Friday! Turned up today not long after they opened for the evening shift. Parked up outside, went in, lovely welcome and our food was cooked freshly to order. We sat in, ate on the bench, truly beautiful crispy tasty batter over lovely flaky fish with chips. Plain sausage for the dog waiting patiently in the car. We will definitely return.

Just your typical fish and chips??? I ordered 2 fish cakes as I'm from the South and wasn't expecting Northern portions... home cooked and delicious, didn't need two due to their size but so yummy. Definitely recommend!

Been going to this chip shop for years it's the best every I've never had a bad one.ive tryed every chip shop from York. Weather by and more and all rubbish this is the only chip shop which is the best

Tonight after reading a lot about JR'S Yorkshire Fish & Chips Greek Gyros I thought I should take a walk down there, I'm certainly glad I did the staff were very pleasant & took my order for a Chicken Gyros, I have only ever been used to Pork Gyros in many parts of Greece before Athens, Corfu, Crete, Paros & Thasos but I needn't have worried it came with onions, tomatoes & homemade Tzatziki all served in a Greek Pitta bread, as much as I like a Doner kebab I find a Gyros much more palatable, I shall be visiting them again for another excellent meal & am really happy that there is another country's (be it only 1 dish) cuisine landed in Knaresborough, giving us a bit more diversity, anyway if you like a Gyros get down to JR'S Yorkshire Fish & Chips & have a little bit of Greece in your own home.
