We have visited this establishment before after recommendations and it's an easy ride out for us...about 25 mins away. So, when we decided to have lunch out one Sunday and were in that direction, we decided to have a 2nd crack...and things have got even better since our last visit! Service here is really good. We assume it's the manageress, but a young lady greeted us with a really friendly welcome, and not long after offered us a choice of tables. Dogs are allowed in and the pub doesn't give the appearance of a spruced 'gastro pub', and thats what we like about it. It seems like a real pub serving superb food. We were quite late at arriving and were told that roasts after 3pm weren't possible, though this didn't seem to be a massively rigid rule. We both opted for the roasts and were really pleased we did. In all honesty, whilst the cut of Pork was decent in it's shape and size, it wasn't the best quality meat we've ever had, and it was the only even slightly negative point in our entire visit, but the chef did what he could under the circumstances. The vegetables that came with it were absolutely first class however...a massive bowl we couldn't finish. The gravy was delightful and my wife, who has a smaller appetite normally, asked for more! Prsentation was also spot on - the chef should be aware that his micro veg were noticed with the corned beef hash...absolutely brilliant and real attention to detail. Other courses were great too, and there is a good choice of beers and gins. I would wager that this could become a michelin star winner before too long, like it's sister establishment. I've eaten worse in such awarded eateries...and we'lld efinately back again, but won't leave it so long until our next visit.

My wife and I had been meaning to stop here for a very long time. At last, we found the opportunity. The service staff were brilliant - very well-trained, I imagine. The menu, as you can see, is varied and reasonable in price. The wine list was not as extensive as some restaurants, but there was certainly enough choice. Both meals arrived before too long, despite being made to order, and were very tasty, but I found the broccoli undercooked. Some better cooked vegetables were promised and appeared before too long. We both really enjoyed our meals. Then I forced myself to order a pudding! The only criticism I could make is that the tables were not very far apart and, as it got busier through the evening, conversations overlapped, and we had to speak more loudly to each other.

Excellent food, very friendly staff and lovely pub. A great family and dog friendly pub that really does delicious high quality food at a reasonable price, 2 courses for £21. We went for a Sunday roast and it was very good, the way it was served just showed you that this place is serious about high quality food. It did not disappoint at all and that goes for the desserts which were equally tasty. The service however was initially fantastic but then we and other tables seemed to get forgotten about, with our eventual dessert order being lost. I thought the staff were great but you can't give high marks for it nearly taking 3hrs to get 2 courses. That said I think this is definitely a must try gastro pub, but maybe book a table in the restaurant but the bar.

We’ve been desperate to visit here with our two springers, so as we were holidaying in Devon, took the opportunity - it did not disappoint. A warm and welcoming atmosphere on arrival with plenty of seating. Very clean and very spacious. A huge bowl of fresh water arrived for our dogs. They don’t usually drink when we are out but felt relaxed enough to drink half the bowl! We chose the blt sandwich with chips and a glass of lemonade. Sandwich was delicious! Not badly priced and we will definitely return when we are down south again.

Springer Spaniel Gastro pub was a wonderful surprise to us both looking for somewhere to eat on the way back from visiting a friend, service had finished, but they went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful lunch as we were absolutely starving, the food was very very tasty, home-made and delicious. I couldn’t fault it and the service was just completely fantastic, if you fancy a pub lunch on the next level with your dogs in tow, seriously consider popping along to the Springer Spaniel because we absolutely loved it and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome in this cosy friendly pub atmosphere with wonderful food that’s all you really need to know so pop along and have a great time

Lovely gastro pub, nice food, reasonable prices. Lovely staff. Background music a bit annoying , something more relaxing would be better.

Good food, they were a bit short staffed which led to slower service. Staff were super friendly though and let us know first thing. Generally a very nice pub with a cosy atmosphere. A little toward the expensive end.

Fantastic Sunday Lunch! The Halloumi fries are to die for, our main Roast was crazy good, was so impressed with the portions, loads of veg, really enjoyed it, wish I'd ask for extra gravy but my own fault. :)

We are on holiday in Cornwall and we looked around for a good Sunday roast! We came across The Springer Spaniel on Google and had such great reviews especially Sunday lunch. We booked up and were not disappointed - best roast we’ve had out in a long time. Very generous portions and delicious also! Was really busy and fully booked. Would recommend 10/10 :-)

We visited the springer spaniel on recommendation of spring park beautiful pub just a few miles from where we were staying, the food was good and we'd definitely go again if we stayed close by, There was a lady who seemed to be holding the front of house, she was fantastic and a credit to the pub she was holding the team together well as it seemed there was another young girl training/recently employed - the girl i originally mention had fantastic people skills and was really engaging with my 6 year old son. She really is great and i hope the owners read this.. back to the good i had the meat burger and the wife had the hallumi burger both were absolutely delicious, we also had some puddings which where ok
