we visited over lunch time on bank holiday Monday the staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was amazing we had the ham hock special and belly pork cooked in ginger beer for mains and the rhubarb cheese cake and Yorkshire pudding with raspberries and white chocolate sauce for puddings, highly recommend and we will be visiting again soon
It was. My second visit, dinner this time. The regular locals were welcoming, as was the real fire and resident dog. The staff were attentive but not over familiar.... Then there was the food... Yummy. Started with the Yorkshire blue cheese, pear and walnut salad, then corned chicken with mushroom sauce, the most amazing fondant potato and delicious and interesting wild garlic. Desert was rhubarb cheesecake in a glass... And a very good pot of tea to follow. Well worth the long journey. Thanks to Dan and all

Food from small plates (also not so small) but absolutely delicious, great selection of drinks through to fantastic service oh and a delicious Sunday roast too..... Beautiful place! Highly recommend a visit. They have a lovely family dining room which was perfect for our active 2 & 1 year old. They even have a ramp for easy access for everyone! Get yourselves there - but do book for food!
Gorgeous traditional Yorkshire pub outside of York, close to Malton. We ordered the fillet steak and ham hock. Both came impeccably cooked with some really impressive sides. Didn't get chance to sample the drinks as I was driving, but it certainly seemed to have a good selection of both ales and spirits.
Highly recommend this place for the quality of the food Vs it's price. The food was perfectly seasoned, presented beautifully and the staff were both welcoming and attentive to anything we need. Definitely coming back again.

Lovely pub in a beautiful part of North Yorkshire. Had a couple of meals with them while also staying in their holiday let, Sunset Cottage. That's where the photo is taken from in fact.
One evening I had an amazing ham hock and battered black pudding, who would have guessed that was a starter made in heaven. Last day we had freshly cooked pizza from their wood fired oven. Brilliant.
Well worth a visit, with a nice drive in through some great countryside, friendly staff and good food. Always a decent pint of Timothy Taylor as well.
Food was great and tasty! Staff were friendly. Definitely should have booked as very busy. A little pricey for what we got but that’s just our opinion however we would definitely return for all the positives!
Great pub! Food was excellent, service was great, friendly patrons. Dog welcome. Prawn cocktail, pork belly was divine!! Apparently so is the black pudding, salmon and the steak! Highly recommend the Jolly Farmer Inn.
It's a little bit run down in some areas, but the very friendly welcome, from both staff and other customers, more then make up for any decorative shortcomings.
All the food we had (see pictures) was absolutely gorgeous, and, while not cheap, was very good value. The drinks are a very fair price too.
I cant recommend The Jolly Farmer Inn highly enough. A must visit if you are anywhere near the area.
Absolutely fantastic place had lunch here yesterday celebrating dads 87th birthday sister in laws birthday and my husbands birthday food service and atmosphere wonderful will be back definitely thank you x

This is a fantastic pub. The small snug at the front gives a cosy bar area but there's quite extensive dining space available further back and outside. The food is superb, with local game and wonderful steaks. I've never received anything less than 5 star service at The Farmers.
While a bit off the beaten track this pub is well worth the trip through some stunning countryside.
And yes, it's still fantastic!

Worth mentioning that after having fish and chips all my life this pub has the best fish and chips on a Friday night I’ve ever had in my life!
