Mr Mackerel

Some friends of mine who I know like good food and dine out an awful lot recommended this place for a quick lunch. I now know why. The mackerel sandwich was delicious. Yes you sit at communal tables, no crockery and diet Pepsi was served in the can but crikey it was a good solo lunch after a bit of shopping.

I grabbed a bite here as I was waiting to board my coach at the bus station next door. I ordered the chicken shish wrap with salad and garlic mayo and a side of grilled halloumi. They were both absolutely amazing (much tastier than expected). The chicken was tender and the salad and wrap were lovely and fresh. The halloumi was absolutely delicious and quite possibly the best halloumi I've ever had. The service was fast and the staff were polite and helpful. I would absolutely visit again when I'm next in the area.

While mackeral is an option it's their chicken and lamb that seems most popular. Various options are available including wraps, sandwiches, boxed meals with salad and rice (or chips) and so on. I had the lamb and rice box for £6.50 and enjoyed it but I wouldn't consider it to be stand-out compared with the same sort of thing from other vendors nearby. It was very busy so service was a little delayed and seating incredibly limited but it's worth a go if you happen to be in the area.

An absolute hidden gem in Leeds. I opted for the lamb kofta sandwich meal. Oh my it was absolutely delicious. The options of fresh salads, sauces and condiments take the food to the ultimate next level. Seriously rather than paying silly prices for high end restaurants in Leeds city centre visit the market. I paid £6 for the meal. Well worth it the portion was huge. Definitely will visit again. I've been told the chicken shish and rice is also extremely delicious.

At £3 a sandwich, you get to watch them grill the mackerel infront of you, choose your salad and get some fresh and crusty bread! I asked for extra red cabbage, as it's always my fav part of these kinds of salads. I found the fish had great flavour, was juicy and seasoned well. We were both even impressed by the fresh bread. Everything about this sandwich was good. Their chips weren't anything to write home about but we came for the fish and amazing fish we got! If you ever find yourself in Kirkstall market and in need of a quick and cheap lunch, I definitely recommend this place.

First time visiting. Didn't know they had the kirkgate market opened near the rear for street food kitchen. Mr Mackerel though an exceptional place which had some decent grub without the need to break the bank. Ordered the chicken shish kebab. With chips and salad boy was it lovely and even so perfect for 2 person. Will definitely be coming back to try the others dished. Simple yet affordable. I must add their customer service levels are excellent too. Dont take my word for it. Try them and see.

Beautiful food, the mackerel fish is cooked to perfection a very popular dish,I opted for the grilled chicken shish kebab with the chip's and salad.good service and a popular street food stall along with other entertainment going on around. The prices are exceptional for the good quality food you are served,I certainly will be going again it was a nice pleasant and enjoyable lunch.
