It was a shock to me when Walkers announced in October 2018 that they were going to close their pie shop as it seemed to be relatively well used. I always used it - especially as it had an offer of two 1lb fluted pork pies for £5 instead of £5.50 with the added incentive of a stamp on your loyalty card towards a free pie, a hot drink or, ultimately, a hot meal! - and the service was always fast and friendly. Their hot meal deals were very good value (such as their breakfast box) and well-used it seemed to me - especially by local workers who came in on their lunch breaks.
It will be sorely missed and my only consolation is that Sainsbury's do sell Walker's pork pies in their deli sections (but at full price - not at the two for £5 deal price!) and also do Country Fayre (who have a stall in the Food Hall of Leicester Market).
Wanted a certain pie & they prepared it ready for me to collect as we are 2 hours away so didn't want to risk it not being in stock. We brought a few things on the counter & also had pie, mash & gravy for our lunch. Was great value & tasted great. Will definitely be making the drive to get more!! Was a lovely shop, helpful staff & a constant flow of customers.
Visiting Leicester for work and wanted a quick, cheap and not tooooo unhealthy lunch. It cost about £4 for pie, mash ans a tea. Coming from London that's super cheap. The food was rustic and tasty. They could be a little more attentive to the little things like making sure the milk isnt empty. And they dont have a toilet, which I think they should provide as they offer eat-in. Overall it had authentic charm in a modern setting, and I would come again.
Best pie, mash and gravy in Leicester take away available also. Excellent value and better than the fast food chain close by.
Passed by previously but by tried it out this time. Was looking for a quick bite and coffee, found both. Coupled with good service and a clean area for food and drinks (coffee)
Went to try one of the pies, but they had been really busy, so were out of some items, but the pie (chicken) was delicious.
Really nice pie, mash, gravy, onions and mushrooms served in a box with a knife and fork, so much better than a maccy d's
Absolutely Fantastic Melton Mowbray Pork Pies, and Lidl sell them, a must buy people
Excellent pork pies with real meat instead of the more
usual liquidised mush.
Good value, friendly staff, clean - good spot for a lunch break
