Average - Was Great, Now OK.... I have been to this restaurant several times over the past few years. It was once the best place for Indian food in Lincoln in my opinion, however, there standards have dropped and the presentation has gone downhill.
Food was very good but Service was rather poor. The restaurant was dead the last time I ate (11 Oct 12), 3 staff were chatting loudly in the bar area buit compleatly unattentive. Thankfully the food was good. Without other customers, the atmosphere is very cold.
Suprising for a thursday night, it used to be that you had to book on Thurs, Fri, Sat but clearly people have voted with their feet. Its ok, nothing special, a bit pricy for a curry (clinging on to its former glory), food is well cooked but overall, there are much better places in Lincoln. As for Indian restaurants in Lincoln, there are no shining stars, this was but its lost it.

Food and service was above average and nothing to complain about. Not one of the best places for an intimate meal. Decor felt a little cold. Perhaps some warm colours instead of magnolia? But still it was clean. Not on my top 5, but I would eat here again.

A slightly tricky one to review. Having had great reports about this restaurant we decided to give it a try. On arrival (we riskily hadn't booked in advance) it was clear they were extremely busy, being a Saturday evening around 8:40pm. There was a noticeable mild air of controlled chaos which we found somewhat off-putting. However, after popping out for a quick drink before returning, we were found a table quickly and service was excellent. We ordered poppadoms, 2 main dishes off the signature special list and a lentil side - and were warned this might be too much food. Food came quickly and was delicious. All 3 dishes tasted vey different with individual spices being detectable. Naan was fresh, had that soft-steamed-bun texture and was a perfect accompaniment. My partner found some of the dishes (his main and the lentil dish) a little too sweet, but that is a matter of taste. We were not able to finish all the food so the ordering advice had been correct! Next time a slightly calmer atmosphere would be appreciated by these diners, but the food was great and we will definitely be back.

Had a meal at the Saffron with my partner and daughter last night and . The service was fantastic, attentive, polite always with a smile. Food was sublime. Poppadoms with different yet tasty pickles. Amazing starter and mains. I had a special tandoori sizzling dish which whilst hot had so much taste and depth. This was my child's first Indian restaurant experience so the chef made her dishes off menu so she had the "best food ever". Fantastic. The customer sat behind us was full of praise also we overheard as we left other diners saying how amazing it was too.
