We've been coming to Etsu since it opened, and are always delighted with the food and service, which is second to none. I only experienced quality like this in Japan, and nowhere else has come even close to it. The attention to detail is meticulous, they source the very highest quality ingredients to ensure the best dining experience possible. The staff are extremely attentive and caring, and will cater for any special dietary requirements - we are vegan, but we have also taken others with special requirements and it was easy for them to cater for this. We've even taken large groups to Etsu and they handled the orders easily so we all ate together. Fantastic for special occasions.
Really enjoyed this small Japanese restaurant. Menu was simple offering sushi, sashimi, udon dishes and rice dishes. I went for the 12 piece sushi set which cost around £13. It consisted of several maki rolls and nigiri with various fish. It all tasted very fresh. My husband went for chicken fried in breadcrumbs with rice which although looked quite plain it tasted really good and had a really authentic Japanese flavour. Restaurant is small so I would recommend to book. Prices are fairly reasonable.
Craving sushi and a quick lunch, we headed off to Etsu Japanese Restaurant when we arrived in Liverpool. Etsu turned out to be a bit of a find, in terms of food and location. Nestled in the concrete jungle that is Beetham Plaza, there it was… a little oasis of delightful flavours and aromas. We immediately forgot we were in the middle of bustling Liverpool and enjoyed the relaxed ambience. We were greeted warmly and shown to a table at the back of the restaurant by our friendly and helpful waitress.
Amazing sushis ans sashimis. The real taste like in my japanese experience. Rice so easy to eat and savour... Much different from the glue-type we have in Quebec
Definitely the best Japanese food I've had in Liverpool. I've been here several times and Ive not been disappointed yet! Would recommend to anyone that appreciates authentic Japanese food!
Fantastic food, reminded us of our trip to Japan. Staff are all super-friendly. Try the Plum Wine after your meal. Ask them if the have any Green Tea Tiramisu when you book your table. There's pay and display parking on Brunswick St.
Great authentic cooking full of flavour in nice surroundings. Great for lunch when out an around town. Be sure to check out the mixed platters very nice an very reasonably priced.
We eventually settled on the chicken yaki tori with teriyaki sauce, seared sea bass nigiri, a mixed sushi & sashimi set and the special fish of the day which was sword fish.
... was very impressed with my first trip to Etsu and I can assure you it wont be my last.
What a great surprise that was ! I was looking for a good restaurant but the food was even above my expectations. Several options on the menu, we tried 8-9 dishes, all were excellent ! I'm fond of Japanese food and this is clearly one of my best experiences so far. The waitresses were very kind. We had a pleasant moment and I only regret not living in Liverpool for this would definitely be among my top addresses.
One of the few good Japanese restaurants in the North West. The staff are very welcoming and Etsu offers a varied menu of classic Japanese dishes. The food was freshly prepared. Etsu's location is central Liverpool, so easily accessible and the restaurant provides a nice atmosphere, with a small Japanese shop at the back.
Awesome place and great food although not many vegan options. Beautiful atmosphere and nice staff.
Nice and tasty food. Really authentic. Brilliant service. No need to say more.
The best Japanese restaurants in Liverpool and the North. A solo diner I was. I ordered a delicate sample of their menu.
Hot, crispy, boldly infused with favour; the Tofu is so good I must order 2x on next visit.
In Britain, most Japanese restaurants can’t make a proper dish of soft shell crab. Etsu can. It’s so juicy. The shell is signably soft. And you get the whole crab!
The sushi set is authentic. And I love their confidence. Scallop is great.
Oh and it is a proud family business.
Went to Etsu for my friends 40th birthday and was absolutely blown away.
Not only was the food unbelievable - hands down some of the nicest things I've ever eaten before, but the customer service was above and beyond.
There was an origami crab wishing my friend a happy birthday, they put a candle in the sushi to sing happy birthday. The waitress was so helpful and friendly through the night.
The bill wasn't overly expensive either considering this was a clearly up market restaurant. It was the type of venue that I will be raving about for years to come.
Decided to stop in for dinner and was blown away by the full experience. Staff were so friendly and helpful, the drinks and food were excellent and so well presented, and the atmosphere was lovely! I would absolutely recommend trying Etsu to anyone looking for a nice dinner out. We will definitely return.
P.S. try the pickles!
Little Birthday treat. The staff made little origami presents at our table. The food was gorgeous as ever. Soft shell crab, tempora prawns, steak, salted cod with sticky rice & a portion of vegetables all cooked to perfection.
Delicious sushi and really lovely staff. Portions are just the right amount so you'll be pleasantly full. Warm sake is highly recommended.
Everything was perfect! We ordered a sashimi set, flamed tuna, ebi roll and gyoza (repeat 2 times because it is fantastic) - all fresh and delicious! The staff very lovely and the place quite to have a nice conversation. To finish, we asked for a mocchi ice cream! Amazing as well! Really recommend!
